Go for the Pizza.
This is the place to go for pizza. The crust is my favorite part and Joey's does it right. No, make that perfect. Ever notice how some pizzas seem to be swimming in grease? Not theirs! They don't overload the red sauce either. (That's another problem a lot of places seem to have.)
Joey's just gets the pizzas done right every time. I've been to Italy twice and this pizza always takes me right back with authentic flavor and texture. They're extra generous with the toppings too! That's always important when mushrooms are involved. :)
Unfortunately, the rest of the food menu is kinda' sad. I think they're putting all their effort into their great pizza. The pasta and other dishes don't taste anything near authentic. It reminds me of a frozen Stouffers dinner.
I think they just grab food from the freezer, heat and serve. That's a shame because we'd be in there a lot more often if we could get come good authentic Italian cuisine. Sadly, no one else around here has it either. You can get Italian-- but not good Italian. If they could get it right and serve something fresh and homemade, they'd be sitting on a gold mine. Nonetheless, the awesome pizza will keep me going back.
Good pizza, good value..
If you want a good pizza for take out in Havertown (or nearby), Joey's is a good place to check. Fresher than most in "H-town" and less greasy. The dining room is nothing fancy, but it's clean and comfortable so if you're passing through, eating there is fine too. Haven't tried the rest of the menu (pastas, etc), but have tried a few varieties of pizza and the Joey's wings: all good. If you try other foods and like them, write them here so we can check them out.
