Tips for The Newtown Grill

During June we held our son's rehersal dinner in the Wine Cellar with over 50 people attending. The service was fantastic and the food was excellent. We had so many of our guest say how perfect it was for a group activity. I was very pleased with the Manager - Mark Donato who made sure our experience was excellent. If I had any areas for improvement the restrooms could have been maintained better. It was a Friday night and they were very busy.

Unbelievable Wait. Last week I attended a group luncheon here. After ordering, we had to wait an hour and a half for our food. We were told the order had been lost, and we had to place it a second time. I had ordered the Mandarin Chicken Salad with the dressing on the side as I do not like soggy. When my meal finally came, there was so much dressing on the salad overpowering all the other ingredients - couldn't have been any soggier. For dessert, we had a choice of vanilla ice cream or lemon sorbet, and I ordered the sorbet. After another wait, we were told that they were all out of lemon, and we would get mango instead. My group of between thirty and forty does lunch three times a year. Needless to say, we will talk with our feet.

Avoid This Place Unless You Like Soup Lines. Do not visit the Newtown Grill! All the reviews are 100% true but I believe in forming my own decisions. Biggest mistake. I made reservations for Mother's Day at 11AM and by 12:30PM decided to stop waiting in line. There was no one taking names at the desk and everyone just standing in line hoping restaurant staff would show up at the desk. People decided to avoid the line and go directly in front of the desk which annoyed me and others who patiently waited to be seated. The line to get food was at the front and combined with the reservation line - total chaos! They ran out of plates and the plates brought out were still dirty. That is when I said enough is enough and took my entire party to La Locanda Restaurant up the street. While leaving, we heard people state they were told they had to leave based on time limits. If you can not form a proper restaurant plan to serve brunch, you should not be in business. This is an upscale restaurant that was reduced to a depression soup line. I would never visit or recommend this place. Whoever is managing this- place needs to be fired. Rule #1 - You do not overbook reservations - you should value your reputation foremost. If you want a top notch restaurant experience, visit La Locanda Restaurant. In speaking with staff, they received many Newtown Grill customers who were feed up and decided to leave too. La Locanda saved Mother's Day from being a total disaster.

Dirty plates and horrible manager Mark. They took down what I wrote on their facebook wall so I'll have to rewrite it here along with a few other places. I was born and raised in Broomall. I have had more work and social functions at this establishment than I can count SO imagine my disgust today. No, it wasn't the gum on the chair that did it for me. No it wasn't the 45 minuet wait that did it. I contribute two things to it. One would be upon reaching the "clean plate" station for brunch (add ten more minuets on to dig through stacks and stacks of plates covered in chunks of food.) Not a single one to be found. I asked a waitress if she could bring myself, along with the crowds of people behind me some clean plates. (One woman actually said "Maybe this is where you drop off your plates to be cleaned?" - sadly no, it wasn't.) At this moment, the manager, Mark (whom I actually booked a wedding reception with in the past) came out and said to the waitress "Forget her I need you to do something else." Leaving me along with countelss other people in both shock and .. you guessed it.. without clean plates. Mark walked past several times (at one point with an entire crew of wait staff, head titled back laughing it up ignoring the multiple "excuse me, we need help" pleas coming from myself as well as other people) while all his customers stood there with no help. After years of recommending this place to all my friends, family, and clients I have never been so disappointed. And it wasn't just the food covered (and chipped) plates, it was the fact that a manager could care so little about his paying and extremely loyal customers.

Newtown Grill--Great. This place is now called The Newtown Grill, and is really great. Some of the food is a little pricey, but it is worth it when you taste it. My favorite steak is the filet mignon with a gorgonzola butter sauce. It's very tender, and the flavor is great. I usually pick at steak, but this one I eat every last bite. I've heard the aged NY strip is out of this world as well, but I've never had it. If you're in the mood for sandwiches, the italian syle cheese steak is awesome. My husband orders the italian style burger with the fresh mozarello and prosciutto, and says it might be his favorite burger around. I've heard the pork sandwich is fantastic, and the filet sliders are supposed to be great too.

I've eaten here several times since it changed from Alberto's and have not been disappointed. There is a fireplace, which gives a very comfy feel. The bar selection is pretty good too.

Excellent food. Went on Sunday night for byob night, it was fantastic, the food was wonderful,

and the prices were great. I had the striped bass, which was cooked to perfection,

My husband had an aged new york strip that had an awesome seasoning, and

tasted fantastic. My kids loved the pasta, and the cute shirley temple the sweet

waitress brought for them. We really enjoyed the whole experience. This is our

new favorite, much more comfortable than our old favorite Guissppies, and not as loud

and noisy.

NEVER GO TO THIS PLACE. I WENT TO THIS RESTAURANT LAST NIGHT. THERE WAS NOT ENOUGH PARKING, THE OUTSIDE WAS CHAOS. WE WERE SEATED RIGHT AWAY.......BUT IN THE WINE CELLAR. IT WAS COLD AND LONELY. THE WAITER WAS BAD. WE HAD TO KEEP CHANGING OUR ORDER BECAUSE THEY WERE OUT OF SO MANY THINGS ON THE MENU. INCLUDING DESSERT. IT OOK 1 1/2 HOURS TO GET THE FOOD. THE VEGGIES WERE RAW AND COLD, THE MEAT WAS NOT COOKED AS ASKED, THE PRICES WERE HIGH FOR "OK" FOOD. OUR WAITER OVER CHARGED US FOR AN ENTIRE EXTRA DINNER MEAL THAT WASNT ORDERED, HE SAID SORRY, AND WE NEVER SAW HIM AGAIN. AFTER WAITING OVER 20 MINUTES FOR HIM TO RETURN, WE HAD TO GO UPSTAIRS AND PAY OUR BILL IN THE HALLWAY. AWEFUL EXPERIENCE.
