In Short – Although short on paper, Paxon Hollow is certainly not short on challenges. Elevation changes, blind greens and tight fairways require excellent course management and patience. The 18th hole is either a wonderful challenge or a stake in your heart, depending on your outlook. One of the most challenging and picturesque holes in the area, you will want to play it over and over, to get the best of it just once. – –
Paxon is a great little public course
by pattyboy21
Paxon is quirky for sure, but considering some of the fees for public courses going thru the roof(Wyncote, et al) and others in DelCo that are always in bad shape (Cobbs' tee boxes - aka dirt boxes) it's a nice track. It's $25/32 on weekdays - where can you beat that. Sure you can drive an hour+ and spend $85 at Wyncote or $110 at Hartfeld and play a great course, but who's got the time and cash to do that on a regular basis - I sure don't. The last hole at paxon is brutal and beautiful - played it 30 times+ with maybe 1 par. Is it so hard to be unfair, maybe, but it's a great hole none the less. 17 is a great test too.
- Pros: Reasonable Price, Good Condition, Some great holes
- Cons: A few weak holes, Staff can be gruff
Not worth it
by ludocdoc
I played this course as my home course on the high school golf team. It's way overrated. Alot of bad (weak, unfair, or poorly designed) holes. Staff are always rude. Way overpriced.
- Pros: Easy
- Cons: Crowded, Rude staff, Overpriced
Great Target Golf
by mikemc
I return to Philly and visit every few months, and try a different golf course each time. I found Paxon Hollow to be great for the price. It's not a long course, but there's some great target golf. Narrow, wood-lined fairways, and a couple holes that require smart play. The greens aren't terribly fast or bendy, but they're kept in good shape. Scenic and fun.
- Pros: Price, Location, Well-maintained
- Cons: Brain-dead staff, Short in length
