AFC - Rip Off

AFC in Jenkintown is over priced, has older Cybex equipment that far inferior to newer equipment, and closes at 5pm on weekends. The new LA Fitness in Jenkintown is much better with new equipment, pool, basketball, etc. and is has better pricing. In addition, AFC has hidden charges that they do not mention when you signup such as a $25 yearly maintenance charge and an early cancellation charge despite the large sign up fee.

Do you know when you sign up ths gym you HAVE TO KEEP UR membership for 12 months? Did someone tell you about this when you sign up the gym?

Im pretty sure nobody say about this to you, they just give you a paper about the THEIR OWN RULES.

Here is my sucks case.

I signed up gym around January at jenkintown. but of course nobody told me about the their rule.they just gave me a paper.

And i tried to cancel my membership last month, before my next payment day(sep 15)

but, when i went there at first, i didnt no i couldnt cancel my membership.

cuz, the guy said I have to pay cancelation fee which is 50$. so i said NO WAY!

and then the guy said to me, talk with Manager next week. and i talked with the manager( second visit) but i couldnt cancel the membership again, cuz she said she`ll talk with the guy who signed me up and she gonna let me know.

very next day, i got a call from who signed me up. and he said i need to pay one full month of payment and good to go-

so, i said, fine~! i`ll pay it, i really tired of going there to cancel my membership.

FINE!

i went to the Gym to cancel my membership ( it was my third visit ) and the the guy said

i have to pay 100$ now. so i said, no way. i got a call from the guy who signed me up

he said all i need to do is just pay one month of payment and good to go.

what the heck! it`s totally hassle. and then the guy went to the manager and cameback to me and said" alright pay 50$ for cancelation fee and since you didnt cancel one month before next payment day you need to pay 4$ next payment day"

and i said FINE! Just cancel my membership let me go!

guess what!?

september 15th, they withrawed 53$ again. (4th visit)

WHAT THE HECK! so i went to the gym and talk about tihis with Manager.

and she said, she`ll submit the refund form and let me know if i can get a refund or not.

and i just got a mail from mananger.

she said, i cant get a refund.

it`s really really unfair.

so, TO cancel my membership i had to pay 103$.

what do you think about this!?

THIS GYM ROCKS!

I travel into this area for my job often and this gym ALWAYS delivers. The people that work there make me feel as if I am in my home town. Love that I can always get on any machine without waiting. Love that it is always clean ,including the locker rooms. Very professional and everything is perfectly maintained. (No duct tape anywhere!) I've been to many different gyms all over the U.S but this one is my favorite by far.

• Pros: good parking, easy to find, CLEAN
• Cons: That it's not in my hometown

I just joined this AFC Fitness Center a month ago and I had to let others know how welcome I was made to feel not only when I walked in for the first time, but EVERY time I come in. The staff is so friendly and helpful and it has made my "rebirth" so much easier. I used to exercise regulary for years and I got away from it and gained alot of weight. My trainer robert has been so helpful and motivating and even had me get involved with Pilates. I am already seeing results and it is a pleasure to come in everyday to a a clean, well equipt Fitness center. the members have been very friendly for the most part and the gym is so clean I love it. Good job guys.

• Pros: equipment, cleanliness, FRIENDLY STAFF!!!!!
• Cons: 15 minutes from my house

Great Gym

I just joined the Cherry Hill location and found out they have a location in Jenkintown I could use. I was visiting a friend in Abington and we went to take a spinning class this weekend and it was awesome. They have a ton of yoga too. Very clean I must say. they also handed out towels which i thought was nice
