Awesome Bar!.
This bar is what made me believe in the Main Line when I worked at Villanova basketball camp during the summers of the late 1990's. The guys I worked with were all from the area (I'm from VA), ten years younger than I, and naturally wanted to attend the "chick" joints. There was this place called Al E. Gator's next door (now gone) that they'd drag me to and ten minutes into it, I was out the door, seated with a 10-ounce glass of Ortlieb's and the Philly Daily News, and happy as a clam. After my boys had their fill, they'd come over, hassle me for a bit, then we'd go down to Larry's Steaks. BUT... Roach's set the stage for the evening. Highly recommended!

Main Line den of inequity feels like home..
In Short
Every town seems to have one of these bars, but the Main Line is packed with 'em. Taking these little dens of inequity one after another can get pretty depressing, but Roache's has that little something extra that makes it stand out from the pack. Is it the tiled front? Or the tired 940s woodwork inside? Maybe it's the tiny, uncomfortable booths in the back or the careless attitude of the kitchen.

Best Happy Hour and Burgers.
Want a good place for a reasonable drink and burger? The owner is there monday, wednesday, friday and saturday. Great service, knows how to run a bar. Too bad he is such a big St. Joe Hawk fan. But you have to love his food and prices. Eating in the "Oak Room" is a treasure.

NO WOMEN!?!?!.
I LOVE this place! I grew up in this bar (in a good way, not a dysfunctional way) and look forward to joining the neighborhood people there on "Snow Days" after everyone digs out their walks and their cars. The burgers are definitely some sort of phenomenon! But, on the other side of the previous poster's "no women" gripe, I find that there are no mid-late 20's guys there very often. If you see them at all, they're usually just stopping in for a six-pack....bummer :( Stick around and talk guys!!!

One Roacheburger, please!.
Easily the best kept secret on the Main Line is the burgers at Roache's...a pitcher of beer and some Roacheburgers- nothing beats it.
