Unimpressed....
Du Jour really needs to learn how to cook their meat properly. A friend and I both ordered salads for a late dinner – she ordered a salad with steak, I got a salad with chicken. The steak on my friend’s salad was EXTREMELY undercooked – it was very red/bloody-looking. The chicken on my salad was EXTREMELY overcooked/seemed to have been reheated several times; all of the chicken pieces were very tough, and a few pieces were so tough that they were absolutely unchewable/inedible.
To the restaurant’s credit, the waitress took my friend’s steak back and re-cooked it when she asked to have it cooked more. Being that the chicken in my salad was overcooked, I just ate the pieces which were edible, assuming that I would not get sick from overcooked meat. Unfortunately, not too long after the dinner my stomach started feeling iffy, and I later woke up with severe stomach pains. This place should work on serving meat that is fresh (not reheated multiple times) and cooked properly. Until then, I will not be returning.
Best Casual Dining on the Main Line. I've been frequenting Du Jour a lot lately and have to say it's fast become my favorite casual dining place on the Main Line. First of all, they carry Illy coffee which is the best coffee there is. They recently updated the menu and the variety and quality are excellent. They also added wait service for dinner and it's BYOB which is nice. The take out is first rate as are the pastries. I love this place...and it beats supporting local corporate chains like Corner Bakery and Bertuccis.

Terribly inconsistent ....
Along the Main Line one tends to see a number of cutsie businesses with precocious names and a lot of money backing them ... businesses that, quite frankly, would never make it in New York - or even Philadelphia. Restaurant quality is, for the most part, abysmal.
DuJour is a gourmet shop I so WANT to like and in fact, DID like, prior to its current incarnation. Since enlarging their space and offering a full kitchen, this popular Haverford spot has become soooo inconsistent. Initially I blamed it on growing pains. Now ... well it's flat out inconsistent. When they're good, DuJour is awesome, offering fantastic salads, sandwiches, pizzas, veggies, "Zone" and "Atkins" friendly food for all the Main Line anexorics -- it's just that they're never GOOD on a CONSISTENT basis. Stale rolls, prolonging the life of their carry-out goods long after they should have been remade fresh, not cooking items to order, uncooked chicken in salads, a BIZARRE checkout system ...the list goes on and on.
