Blue Comet. Blue Comet stands alone--not just in comparasion to the other bars in the area. Experienced wait staff, freshly made drinks, with YES, real fruit and unique beers on tap. Excellent food, fresh meat and fish specials that change daily. LIve acustic music on Saturdays and national Rockabilly acts on Sundays. Add to that the English style outdoor smoking area, the only one that I know of and you'll have a nt. to remember. Monday thru Friday offers great happy hour pricing and Sundays speak for themselves. A TV that has a sign "speak to the person next to you", it's an atypical bar that can't be missed. Freshly painted, updated and better than ever....The Blue Comets Back. Finally......
The Blue Comet is a train derailed. Some other guy reviwed this place as having an "extensive menu." I think he got paid to write that unless you consider meatloaf and peanut butter sandwiches as being an extensive menu? Went there for a quick beverage Saturday night, anxious to see if the place was different now that it re-opened after losing it's license last year. Trust me, it's the same old, dirty dive bar. Very disappointed. We were vaguely amused by our smelly, drunken waiter. Ya!!! The waiter was drunk, and couldn't figure out to give us the right change on our tab as he stood there swaying back and forth about to keel over. Unbelievable!
Northwest of the city, this retro-glam bar offers a haven for '50s-fanatics, rockabilly fans, and those who dig an old-style scene..
In Short
The Blue Comet stands alone as a beacon of effortless cool on this otherwise barren strip of forgettable suburban shops and why-bother restaurants. Patrons range from working-class stiffs in for an afternoon beer to the unabashedly glamorous post-punk Rockabilly scensters who descend in perfectly detailed vintage vehicles, a full pack of Camels in hand and Zippos freshly filled for the night. Comparing fresh ink is a good pastim here. As is drinking in the scene, enjoying the retro music, friendly service and 1950-time capsule of a bar.
