Croydon >The Riverboat Inn
I cant find the review...... Could you please post a link to the review Philadelphia Magazine wrote with these reviews about this place? First you wrote that you heard about the review, and then you posted that you actually read the review and to be honest we couldn’t find a review about the Riverboat anywhere in the Philadelphia Magazine or its website. In all honesty we found the Riverboat Inn to be nothing like what you have written, unless you’re not talking about the Riverboat Inn in Croydon PA.
I had heard that the Philadelphia Magazine wrote a wonderful artile about the Rverboat Inn, so I decide to check it out for myself.
The review I read in the magazine, based on my dining experences here, was right on the money. The crab soup and shrimp scampi IS the BEST on the east coast. The Riverboat Inn does have great prices, a nice selection of craft beers and superior entetainment.
You can't get a better reveiw than one that comes from a more legitament source than the Philadelphia Magazine, after all, the reviews are written by professional food critics.
The Chef at the Riverboat cooks every meal with care and from scratch, which, in my opinion, is a good thing. I like to know exactly who is in the kitchen cooking my food and that the Chef that is prepairing the meals, preairs it in a way that the love of their career, reflects in the end result.
I can't say that I know exactly who is preparing the meal at some of the places I have dined at & I have actually walked out of some establishments, once I saw who was preparing the dishes.
Word of mouth is the best advertisement you can get and I will suggest the Riverboat to all of my friends and family.
I highly recommend stopping in to enjoy their great craft beer selection or to dine at the Riverboat Inn.
DATE WITH THE NEW GUY!!.
I was asked out to dinner and my date took me to the Riverboat Inn & I have to say I was impressed with the Victorian decor.
I noticed two Philly baseball players having dinner at a table not too far from mine, so I asked the server what they were eating. He informed me that a lot of baseball & hockey players come in for the seafood and crab soup. He said they enjoyed coming for the great food private dining experience.
I began to look around at the pictures on the walls & was amazed at the number of sports players that have eaten there over the years. I am a HUGE Flyers fan, I was fascinated at the picture of the owner drinking out of the Stanley Cup when the Flyers won in 1974-1975.
He also informed me that Chef Summers cooks a lot of the special order dishes requested by the team members that they are unable to find at any other establishment.
So my date & I ordered the Crab soup & stuffed flounder floridian & I have to say, I now see why they make the journey to the Riverboat Inn to order these dishes. I was astounded at the flavor and freshness of the food.
I thoroughly enjoyed it and will be back to eat at the Riverboat Inn again, not necessarily with the new guy, but I will be back.
I highly recommend this resturant for great food, company and atmosphere.
The Place Not To Be..
I spent a few moments here last evening, it is definitely very dark to the point you can’t see the menue. The music is a mix of old Vegas tunes and old Top Forty.
It’s hard to describe the dining area, the tables and chairs are like those in a school cafeteria covered with a plane cloth and paper napkins. There are no windows, adding to the darkness and my feeling of being in a box, and the wall paper is something from the 70’s or so, its blue designs on a reflective silver backing and stripes.
I wish I could write something great about this place, but we sat there for ten minutes without service so we decided to go else were. We never got to eat or enjoy a glass of water. And it wasn’t like the place was busy. There were 4 or 5 men at the bar and that was it. I guess this is an ok place to stop for a drink if you live in Croydon. But if you’re looking for a place to relax and enjoy a good meal we didn’t find it here.
A Hint for the Guys.
The Riverboat might draw a different and higher classed crowd if it wasn’t sitting in the middle of a depressed area serving food that is better suited for a soup kitchen.
The gentleman who brought me to this place on a date has tried to call me three times; needless to say I haven’t answered the phone once.
Here is a hint guy’s, if you want to impress a woman; this is not the place to take her.
Deleted from my GPS..
I’m stationed here at Willow Grove Naval Air, My buddy and I are new here and we wanted Sea Food, The Riverboat Inn came up on my GPS as a good local Seafood place. We drove down last evening and well, in short, I deleted it out of my GPS this place was so bad.
Only a neophyte dinner would consider this place a palatable restaurant or source of entertainment.
The Riverboat Inn, WOW, it reminded me of a cave you might find Osama bin Laden hiding in, hell the place even smells like cigarettes and camel jockeys.
This is defiantly a place for just for the locals.
The entertainment is like listening to a late night infomercial for the top forty narrated by Dr Shock.
You definitely will have a few if this is where you end up; you need them to ease the pain of the Riverboat experience.
this is not a real person writing this review
