39.931324 -75.292234I would just like to say that the new owner of Walt's steaks completely ruined the place. He changed all of the food, different product that had much less taste and he did so because of the price. He bought cheap product and expected to sell it for the same price as the expensive product. In 2011 Walt's won "Best Cheesesteaks of Delco", in 2012 you could get a better cheesesteak from the freezer isle in acme. He closed the business to remodel without telling any of his employees, not realizing that what he's doing is tearing down a tradition and putting good people out of work. It's a disgrace.
Walts needs a total overhaul.!!!..
Clifton heights rumor MILLS say that walts is remodeling and coming back stronger and better! Walts was purchased by Newtown Square Pizza. I work in Newtown square and our whole office building orders from Newtown square PIzza. I mean everyone orders from newtown square pizza.
Bring Newtown square PIzza to WALTS in Clifton!!!!
I know Jim, the owner of Newtown Square Pizza, He runs an awesome operation in Newtown square.
Clifton is waiting for an awesome place like Newtown square Pizza!
I spoke to Jim and he showed me the plans for WALTS.
Can't wait, we order from another pizza place in Clifton now, but we will be walts customers soon...
I don't think I'll be going back anytime soon.
The last time I went in, there was a guy ranting and raving at his employees -- I don't know who he was, but it wasn't the owner I've seen in the past. I don't know why people think it's ok to treat their employees that way, much less with customers in the restaurant.
I think they changed their source for steaks as the one I had was not what they used to be -- so much for "Delco's finest" - not anymore!
I'll be finding someplace else to eat when I pass though Clifton. The only good thing I had was the milkshake my waitress made. Too bad.....it was good while it lasted.
What happened to the Walt's I used to know....
So I've been going to Walt's for 20 some years, it's a neighborhood institution. But something has gone wrong lately.
Service and food have both taken a dive on my last 2-3 visits. The servers were, in the past, upbeat and pleasant, lately they've all seemed stressed out and unhappy. Atmosphere of the place has taken a hit as a result, just not a 'fun' place anymore.
Food quality has dropped to. Seems pre-cooked and just re-heated when ordered - pizza on my last visit was greasy & the crust was soggy. It's like they're cutting corners on ingredient quality to maybe make an extra buck.
I've been told that the place is under new ownership. The only thing I can think is that the new boss doesn't know how to run a restaurant. Any changes they're making to the service & food just aren't cutting it.
I would have given out zero stars but the site won't allow it. Save your money, there are better places in Delco for pizza and steaks now.
Total Waste of Money.... Unfortunately, I took someone to Walt's for take out. It was my first time there, but I figured I've never gone wrong with a steak shop/pizza place. We didn't wait more than 5 minutes for our order which was 2 slices of pizza and a large chicken cheesesteak. We split our food. We both had a slice of pizza and a half of the chicken cheesesteak. They were both horrible! The pizza was room temperature, with burnt cheese and barely any sauce. The chicken cheesteak was also room temp with the most dried out CUBES of chicken I've ever had. It was obvious that this was food that had been sitting for a long time. No wonder it took less than 5 min. for us to receive our order. What's worst is that after eating some of it (neither one of us could finish it) I had the "bubble guts" and had to make a couple of runs to the bathroom-which wasn't fun. I know that others rave about this place, but my experience was terrible, and I will let people know about it.
juicy. Good food, not much atmophere. Parking becomes a problem. Go early, backs up quickly.
oh my word. this has got to be the best steak i've ever had.it was so big i could get my mouth around it.you could smell the sweet aroma for blocks.also, the place was soooo clean.i find that very impressive.we were quite certan that they took a lot of pride in there work.
