Best Seafood I've had, and I am picky about Seafood!.
I've been going to the Original Clam Tavern for about 4 years, at the recommendation of our neighbors in Drexel Hill. I'm so glad they made that recommendation! As a picky seafood eater, with a husband who loves seafood, I have been hard-pressed to find a place that serves good portions, at a good price and that has FRESH Seafood. Well, this place does it right!
I would recommend almost anything on the menu, however, i usually go with the mussels or calamari to share then the Fried flounder platter. These have always been great! My husband usually likes the Mahi Mahi or Tilapia and they too never disappoint. The wait staff has always been nice and efficient to us, and the plus is that the owner always comes around to the tables to see how people are doing. On top of that, the place is clean! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for decent seafood!
Rude waitstaff, astronomical prices, cramped seating. I was with family and my son and I were the only vegetarians in the group. Come to think of it, we were probably the only vegetarians this place has EVER had, by the way we were treated. The waitress was inexplicably rude and so was the owner when I pointed out that my so-called "pasta primavera" had bits of seafood. I expressly asked the waitress for a meat-and-seafood-free pasta but my wishes were ignored. Even worse, I was all but called a liar when I pointed out the mistake. Prices are astronomical and seating is tight and cramped. Go somewhere else to dine out--anywhere but here.
COLD COLD COLD FOOD, PLZ STAY AWAY!!.
PROS: Our waitress was very friendly and attentive.
CONS: The restaurant was extremely cold.
Salad was served in very small dollar store bowls with way to
much dressing.
The cold air in the room chilled our slightly warm plates quickly
which led to our food being cold within 5 minutes.
Prices are VERY HIGH in a blue collar area.
Food was served on cold Formica table tops which also led to
the coldness of our meal.
Waitress were wearing thermal long sleeve shirts under their
waitress "T"shirts.
It was a horrible feeling to pay hard earned money for a terrible
experience.
I highly recommend you save your money and go elsewhere
if you want to celebrate any occasion.
PS: To the owner(s) PUT THE DAMN HEAT ON, WILL YA!!
