Like so many other reviewers said, this is an old Main Line favorite. It's also one of the few reliable, non-box restaurants around that's casual and reasonably priced.
While I find the dining room downstairs a little dark and depressing during the day, the upstairs is bright and much more cheery. The service can sometimes be a bit off, but is usually quite adequate for a place like this.
There's a lot to choose from on the menu, even for vegetarians. I highly recommend the Pizza Provencal. Yummy!
Best neighborhood restaurant.
With this economy, is nice to have a place that offers good food, sizable portions without emptying your wallet.
I really like to start off with a soup especially the french onion or potato. Enjoy their selection of salads-the Breton is one of my favorites(fillet tips, goat cheese and roasted beets). My husband enjoys the beer selection and their main line burger(roasted peppers, etc.) Love their strawberry pie but think it is only offered in season. enjoy going to border"s next door after our meal. A night out that we can afford. especially when their outdoor garden is opened.
Best Potato Soup. Being a parent of Nova student we frequent Gullifty's often. I love the menu because they offer something for everyone. The potato soup is the best I have ever had. I have no complaints about this restaurant and highly recommend it to everyone. It's a great place to take the family or watch a game with friends.
Horrible Customer Service. I live nearby this restaurant, and I keep going back because it has an extensive and ecclectic beer menu. The food is relatively okay, but the service is absolutely horrible. I've waited for my check for at least 45 minutes before...and I had to hail down another waitress to get it for me. Every single time I've been there (at least 5), I've encountered terrible, unfriendly, slow, and rude service. And it's not like they are understaffed. They have tons of waiters and waitresses running around. They apparently just congregate around and choose not to serve people. It's terribly distressing, and I keep giving them a chance. But since the service has failed to improve, I am taking my business elsewhere. It's a shame, because the restaurant is a neat little place. But I refuse, as a paying customer, to be subjected to service such as at Gullifty's. Stay away if you value your time...
.This summer especially enjoyed their burgers in their outdoor grill and bar area.
Inside, potato soup and champagne salad are my lunch favorites.
