Tips for Original Eagle Pizza

5.0
March 26, 2010

We switched over to Eagle Pizza. Well, it was a snowy night in H-town and our usual spot, H-town Pizza was closed so we called around and the only joint open was Eagle Pizza. We heard new owners took over and thought lets give it a try, since our kids friends were sleeping over and we had a packed house.

Although it took some time for our delivery to arrive, understandably with a foot of snow on the ground, the food was warm and more importantly, it tasted great and everything was correctly prepared, which falters at other places.

We had a large pizza 1/2 pepperoni, 1/2 plain and another large with tom., broc., & ricotta ch. which was better than our normal stop. There were more toppings and priced about the same, plus it tasted great. The cheese steaks were moist and had the cheese melted right into the steak, yet the rolls were like the atlantic city rolls that we love, thick and firm. The fries were just average but aren't they all; by the time they get to the house they are slightly warm and have lost the crispy crunch. Someone should figure out a way to deliver fries hot and crispy. We also ordered a 9th st. hoagie that was reasonably priced and better than J&G's version, which we also love. Lastly we tried a tuna salad that was packed with a unique tuna fish mix and a fresh bed of salad that we ate the next day because there was so much, we could not eat it all. Actually there were pleanty of left overs as we over ordered incase we could not get out the next day and we were happy we did. It snowed another foot.

Eagle Pizza is now our Friday night spot and we can confidently recommend it to any one who has given up on their regular pizza shop or who just wants a change of pace. The wait to pick up an order is 15 minutes unlike the 45 minutes we would have to wait for a Cenzos pie. The new owners are welcoming and remember my name when ever I go in to get my order. I guess I am writing this because they have been very good to my family and this is my way of paying it forward.
