Good food, poor service!. We came here for a birthday dinner. We waited beyond our reserved time by almost an hour. Once seated, it was difficult to get any attention to open our wine or get water. The dinners were delicious, however the service left a bad taste in our mouths. For the price, Trax needs to be more attentive to all aspects of fine dining!

Another great meal at Trax!. I'm a fish lover especially when the chef knows how to grille fresh fish just right. During another recent visit to this Ambler BYOB, I wasn't disappointed. The grilled and roasted vegetarian entree is another favorite since I don't eat meat. When I go with a "meatetarian" I know both of us will be happy.

A Fun Neighborhood Restaurant. Trax Cafe is one restaurant we can all agree on. We've brought friends and family there many times. The food is excellent. The fish is always cooked the way we like it and our kids love the ribs. I love the goat cheese salad, our kids love the red peppers and mozzarella salad. The train station offers great atmosphere, a feeling of fun, warm and friendly, and in nice weather, you can sit outside and watch the trains. You can't beat that!!!

Awesome restaurant in Awesome town. We have been going to Trax for about 10 years and the food/service are constantly great. Once the staff gets to know you, you feel like you are dining with old friends. The fish is always fresh and the chef prepares interesting dishes - not the normal run of the mill food. Lunch is moderately priced and even a simple ham and cheese is an exciting treat !!!! Thank you Steve for coming to Ambler many years ago and being one of the pioneers for the revitalization of this special town.

Nice place, below average food.. I agree with most everyone that the building and space have a lot of character and charm. It is an inviting restaurant! Tables are close...no problem for us, adds to the character. After trying a good portion of the menu soup taster, french onion soup, caprese salad, BBQ baby back ribs over cole slaw, lamb, and crab cakes, the only portion of our meal that we really liked, was the soup. (The taster was great, and the french onion very good!!) After that ...our positive impression dwindles off. I was hoping the crab cakes would be jumbo lump, or anything similar, however they were more like canned crab with a good amount of filler. The ribs were OK, but the spicy slaw seemed to be days old, and no combination of flavor...just hot! The lamb was covered in a curry sauce , which my partner typically loves, yet the sauce was overpowering, and tooak away from the lamb. The topper for our evening was the bread served at the table.....old, very old. We are carbo junkies, and eat bread all evening with our meal....we did not touch it after the first bite. If you have a better night....please let us know and we will return. We were really looking forward to making this "our spot". At the end of our evening $100.00 bill, ..a little high, but average for a BYOB and what we were expecting, for our soup, apps, and meals, however we felt if you are going to spend the money...the food should stand out more than it did. Our servers...from host, waiter, waitress, etc.. were all attentive and great with us. At the end they were a little busy and the check took some time (not much), but nice service overall.

Trax has one of the nicest crews around, starting from the minute you walk in the door...smell, presentation, quality... always willing to accomodate any need.... I have been dining at trax for almost four years now, of all the restaurants I have been to across the world i always come back to it... i think its fair to say trax is a world class restaurant and works like a well oiled machine... it starts with the large parking lot directly in front of the door, the smell of the food as you walk up, and the friendly staff who is always ready to greet and accomodate you... with the restaurant being so moderately sized you can keep your eye on the action back in the kitchen while you listen to jazz being played in the backround... the quality of food is outstanding and only keeps getting better!!

Worst Dining Experience Ever!!!!. This overpriced restaurant has incompetent servers and the most arrogant, rude owner that I have ever experienced. Twice during our meal, the "chef" substituted dishes or ingredients without even informing us. One of our dining companions, who does not eat meat, ordered pea soup. Instead she was brought beef soup. When she questioned the server, she was assured that it was, in fact, pea soup. Several minutes later the server returned to say that they did not have pea soup and instead served her beef soup. For dessert, I ordered the apple crisp a la mode. I was told that it was served with vanilla ice cream. I verified with the server that there would be no chocolate in this dessert, since I can't eat chocolate. Fortunately for me, someone else at our table ordered the same dish and warned me that the ice cream had chocolate in it. The server confirmed that they had run out of vanilla ice cream and substituted raspberry truffle ice cream. When I asked to see the owner, he reluctantly came out of the kitchen but refused to listen to our complaints. He rudely told us to pay the bill and leave. When I told the server that I wanted an apology from the owner before I paid the bill, he called the local police. No one needs to subject themselves to that type of attitude.

Just plain BAD. My wife and I recently had dinner at 8:30 at Trax Cafe. The location was charming and the architecture interesting. That's where Trax's appeal ends. The servers seemed pleasent but then we waited 1/2 hr for bread when the restaurant was half full. I got the shrimp bisque which was a little fishy. We then opted to split a salad. The server asked if she could bring it on 2 different plates for us neglecting to tell us that doing so would cost us an extra $2. The money wasn't the issue, the faux good will was. I ordered the veal chop. I was told it would be in a mushroom reduction. The mushroom reduction was Campbell's cream of mushroom soup and the chop itself was fatty, well done on the ends and medium in the middle. Possibly the worst veal chop I've ever had. For $27 my wife got 3 shrimp on a skewer! Bottom line its too expensive to be serving inferior quality food. The appeal of BYOB's is their concentration on the food. This one's clearly lost its focus if it ever had any. Finally, they charged my credit card twice. Bad from top to bottom!

Best BYOB in Pennsylvania. This spot has the best food on the face of the earth. I have tasted practically everything they have. All their specials are off the hook. I take my friends here all the time and they are marvelled that such excellent food exists. highly highly reccommend this place. Even the wraps they have at lunch is way too incredible.

A word: ask about their UNTRADITIONAL CHEESESTEAK!
