Perkasie >Metal Health Gym & Fitness
Flashback to the 80s. The logo, the name metal health, the equipment and the decor. If you're a muscle head this is your place and it's all yours. Not sure what Scotty B was talking about with the owner sitting back, I wish he would have. He was going around trying to talk everyone into lifting more weight, what a fat little bozo. If you want a body like his then follow his advice. It was only $5 to work out, which I agree with, but he should have paid me. Dirty gym, old equipment, plate loaded, but again if your goal is to be a power lifter then this is your place. Ugh, I need to get a shower. Not sure how jlew or draven would recommend this place.
What a dump.
If what you're into is body building then I guess this is the gym for you. The floor looks like something out of the seventies and dirty. The guys working out in there were staring at my girlfriend and she felt quite uncomfortable. The equipment is old, torn and dates back to 1970. The cardio equipment is jammed so close together that the person next to me was actually sweating on me.
There's no customer service there. The owner wasn't helpful in the least and just sat there providing almost no information about memberships and pricing, instead he just handed me a piece of paper and walked away.
The music system is blaring and obnoxious. I could barely hear my iPod over the gym's system. Steer clear of this place unless you're a muscle head, like the owner, then knock yourself out. We'll be looking for another place to work out and let the body builders have this one.
Great Place to workout. This place is the best old school type gym around. There is nothing better than going to a gym and watching folks actually work out. The owner..... Great!!! For those who think you go to the gym to watch T.V. or talk on the cell phone, and complain about everything, need not train at this place. Because this place is not what you need. You need a place like L.A. Fitness because you are not there to work out, you are there for everyone to see. Mental health is the common persons place to train. If you are into getting a good work out and not caring who is there, then MHG & F is your place... Check it out!!!!
A Real Gym.
This is what I like to call a "real gym." It doesn't have all the fancy crap that franchises have, but it has enough for people serious about working out, not just socializing. Also, they play rock music over the system, and the owner will be on first name name basis with you. Another member here compalined about how loud the music was. I was in this gym today, and the music was fine. Even if I choose to use an ipod, I can easily drown out the sound system in the gym.
The owner of this gym is always there and has no problem letting you know that it's his gym. If you're in there goofing off, dropping weights on the ground, or leaving plates or handles on the machines, he will call you out on it. It's a respect thing which some people find offensive.
