Worst Of The Worst. 6 years ago some friends and I ate at Mothers. At that time the food was very good. Last summer, my daughter and I stopped in for lunch. The air conditioning was not working, the bar area was filthy, and to make matters even worse, the food was atrocious. We left the food basically untouched as it was horrible. The waitress, who was basically new, was embarrassed. Should have realized how this place deteriorated as my daughter and I were the only patrons there and it was lunch time. We paid the bill, left a tip and walked out the door quite hungry. When I arrived home a few days later, I took the time to write a letter to the restaurant telling them how disappointed we were with Mothers. They didn't even have the courtesy of responding. Needless to say, I wouldn't allow my dogs/cats to eat their food. Please stay away from this restaurant.
Worst experience ever. If it was possible to give zero stars, that's what I would give this place. My boyfriend and I had walked past Mother's Restaurant and thought it looked like a really cute place. The menu seemed nice enough so we gave it a shot. Service started out fine. Things changed once we received our food. Right after biting into a slice of toast that came with his meal, my boyfriend could not swallow it because it tasted like mold. On further inspection, two other slices of toast had mold on them--we showed this to the waiter, who said he would talk to the manager. We waited five minutes and no one came by. When the waiter came by again, he asked if the manager had come over...she hadn't. When the manager did come, she accused us of trying to get a free meal and insisted that the mold was oregano. There was no attempt to correct this wrong. We were not given new bread and we were told we had to pay for this disgusting and unhealthy meal.
Great place. Good service. Great food. The Almond Raspberry Baked Brie is to die for.
Great Food - But Be Prepared to Wait..
This restaurant would have received a rating of highly recommended if the wait staff was half as impressive as the food. Where they are and what they are doing is anybody's guess. We arrived ontime with reservations to an uncrowded restaurant and sat without so much as a glass of water or a menu for almost 15 minutes. Our waitress finally materialized after we flagged the only other person we saw working in the room and asked if we had a waitress. Thereafter, we received adequate if not attentive service. However, two other tables walked out after experiencing similar long periods of being ignored.
The duckling and salmon were beautifully prepared and the special melon salad was a real treat. The bread pudding was fine, if not special. In general - the food gets an "A." The service a "C."
Note: It is now under new ownership.
