40.328229 -75.129528will never go back. One day I was shopping, and a women who was working there was yelling at a couple children playing at a table. the way she handled the situation was wrong. I was amazed the way she spoke to the kids and finally the mom steped in and she started yelling at the mother. I don't care what was going on it was down right rude and unprofessioal. I am an RN and I have come accross many patients that I would like to have lashed out on, but you just can't do that. If you cannot handle working in a toy store get a different job......There is a calm way of handling a situation without loosing your mind and going off on children just playing on a table at a TOY STORE....needless to say I put back the toys I WAS going to buy and walked out. never to return again........And I have told my story many times to other moms in the community, and alot have agreed with me. They need to hire people with patients and compassion...
local yokel.
no doubt in my mind the people complaining have never worked in retail. i have for 20+ years and the way the staff handles customers is above & beyond the call.
it is a toystore not a playground, some parents don't seem to know this. playtables are available for the children but they choose to play with whatever they want then the parents don't want to buy the toy because the box is damaged, i have seen this happen first hand.
as far as returns, it is posted all over store & on my reciept what items are not returnable, also they tell you when you are checking out. other store like this, the same items are not returnable but they close down after holiday and are not around to argue this policy. fosters is there year round for all our needs. exceptions to all rules, i was there a few weeks ago there was some sort of problem with color of costumes purchased for a school play and they were bending over backward to return & order the correct costumes for these kids. retail is hard work and holidays are crazy, i'll bet you never worked 10-12 hour days with a smile on your face every second. i want to keep local business alive & my neighbors working not my hard earned money going to rich or foreign owed company's
shop local and often and we will get through this recession.
A Fabulous Local Experience. Foster's Toys has ALWAYS been a positive experience for our family. From the unique selections they offer to the EXTREMELY helpful & knowledgable staff, they have made every visit fantastic. They almost always have exactly what I'm looking for & will go the extra mile to attempt to get something for me if they don't currently have it in stock. As for the negative reviews I have read about the stores appearance at times & the "rudeness" of it's employees, this is not a big-box chain store. They do not have the staffing to turn a store around after a holiday or an event. They are a small, independant business. Things are moved around frequently to keep things fresh & I feel that a store with a staff under 10 employees does an exceptional job of accomplishing this in a timely manner. Maybe those of you who had an unpleasant experience should give them a 2nd chance. They are even nice enought to offer a 15% off coupon for the rest of the year for their anniversary. You can get this by either going in the store & giving them your name & email or just going to their website at fosterstoysandpartycenter com (i think). I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
Great place to shop.
Toys, Books, Game, Puzzles, Party Supplies, Costumes, Teachers Supplies and more in one store!
I shop here all the time and always find what I want or the staff finds it for me. These people know their stuff and always recommend a winner. I've even found their prices better than the internet or some of the big stores. For Halloween, my kids were able to try on the costume before I bought it! Their Christmas catalog had so many great toy ideas and the prices were excellent (they even gave me a discount coupon)! Nice to know locals own and run the store. Truly a Doylestown treasure!
I feel so festive now! NOT.
Okay, I don't even know where to begin. We used to go here all the time for costumes and party supplies because it's local. There's nothing really special about this store. It's all about location.
Well, I now drive down to Warrington or over to Montgomeryville for costumes, because let me tell you, I did not expect the level of rudeness and bad attitude these clerks and the owner of the store has to dish out to their customers.
I tried to return something three days after the fact -- with receipt -- and they talked to me like I was insane for even thinking it. They were condescending and snotty about it, to boot. I asked for an exchange and they very tersely informed me there was absolutely no way. We're talking about a pair of tights that were sealed in plastic. I can't believe how rude and nasty these people were.
One of them even said she wouldn't return it because "there had been customers looking for that item and YOU had it, so they couldn't buy it." This makes no sense to me, because (correct me if I'm wrong) if OTHER customers want it, she should want it back in the store. But not at Foster's! Not at Foster's where everything defies logic, simply so they can enforce their stringent return policy. Heaven forbid they honor a customer's request in a situation where everyone wins. I just don't get it.
And I've seen them treating people's children harshly as well. Hello, it's a party store. Kids will be kids. If you don't like it, go into a different business. Treating families like dirt doesn't surprise me coming from this store where the service can turn from nice to nasty at their whim.
I usually like to support family owned and operated stores and avoid the big box stores, but in cases like this, I'm off to Party City. It amazes me that Foster's can still stay in business with the way they treat their customers.. Don't even bother with the store. Rude service. Overpriced merchandise. NO RETURNS. Gee, I feel so festive now.
We will be back and back and back!. What a great store! Toys, costumes, books, party goods one stop shopping. We found different high quality toys that we've seen in specialty catalogs, only here they were there to pick up and bring home (prices were the same or less than other stores or catalogs). Staff greeted us as we arrived and offered to include us on their e-mail list for monthly coupons, that's friendly. We look forward to shopping there for parties and gifts.
Very Freindly & Helpful.
Very freindly and helpful.
To the person that gave this store a bad review, I would like to say that yes this is a toy store but children should be kept under control. I personally always have a great experience, although I do find the prices a little higher that some places. But I always find the staff very helpful. You must have been having a bad day!
Great Escape from the Big Chain Stores.
I had a great time shopping at Fosters with my children. I think the staff was very helpful and new there inventory. My kids played with the toys "set-up" for all to enjoy while shopping and we did not have any issues. When parents are shopping they need to remember that the employees are there to help costumers NOT babysit there children.
It is really nice to have a local choice of good quailty items and not be forced to shop at the big chain stores. I enjoy walking into a store and being greeted with a smile and someone willing to help me. We need to support the local owned business in our communities. So, the coupon was wrong, no one is perfect. Fosters posted signs and I was told (very nicely) about the error before I started shopping.
I strongly suggest that you give Fosters a try. Our family will continue to shop unitl the kids get to big, but really who is to big for a toy store.
SCAM! False Advertising, unapologetic staff.
The " $20 OFF any one item" coupon, largely printed in red on the back of the store's own Holiday Toy Catalog that was mailed to my home (and I assume many others), is what prompted me to head into Doylestown to the always over-priced Foster's Toy Store. I figured it would be worth the trip for $20 off--I figured wrong. It seems as though these inaccurately printed coupons were one big scam just to get people to their door. A flyer at eye-level on the door read that the "correct"coupon was "20% OFF any one item" instead of $20 off. If you have already been to Foster's then you probably know that their toys are WAY overpriced to begin with and 20% off is NOT ANY kind of DEAL.
I did venture inside the store to ask a salesperson, "Shouldn't the store have to honor these coupons? They were printed on the store's OWN mailings...which I would expect to be PROOF-READ by management before being mailed out." The salesperson responded that they were NOT honoring the coupon, it was in fact only 20% off any one item and that there was nothing that could be done about it.
Needless to say, I did not buy anything and will never again step foot into the store.
Extremely Rude Employees, Avoid At All Costs. Fosters ranks #1 as the worst customer service experience i've had in my entire life. I recently walked in with my husband and 2 young children and was treated with extreme discourtesy and blunt rudeness. We were eventually told to leave because my son was trying on "too many costumes" and we had yet to purchase anything. I would think a store of this nature would appreciate the business. Avoid Fosters toys and party center at all costs.
