What Our Expert Scouts Are Saying
The owners of South Street newcomer Umai Cafe are eager to prove they can do it all. Curious folks west of Broad can now embark on a culinary tour of Asia with options from Chinese to Thai and Japanese. (They also do hoagies!) Cheap-as-dirt lunch specials, ranging from pepper steak with onion to teriyaki chicken bento boxes, complement Pad Thai and penang curry plates from The Land of a Thousand Smiles. If none of these cuisines are your jam, go the gringo route with cheesesteaks, deli sandwiches or burgers. They've also, strangely, have a Taylor Swift coffee table book available for perusal inside if you want to read up on what her whole deal is.

This is also a breakfast spot, carrying
over the tradition of a previous tenant. You just can't beat the "Good Morning Platter" — two eggs, home fries, toast, your choice of breakfast meat and a coffee — for a paltry $4.
