This stretch of street directly east of Broad and South long lacked an everyday stop-in for the many residents who live in super-close proximity, so it's both literally and figuratively sweet that Cafe V addressed this need. Named for its gregarious owner Victoria, this coffee shop brews and pours PT's Coffee, the top-notch brand out of Kansas, as well as beans from local roaster One Village. Though they've got a savory breakfast, lunch and dinner selection that's ambitious for a place its size, they're also earning high marks for their house pastries and baked goods. Throw in UArts students performing live multiple nights a week and you've got the makings of an indispensable neighborhood gathering place.
