Fan-freakin-tastic!. I would not eat sushi for years until my best girlfriend talked me into it. My first experience was horrible, the second not so bad. Then I went to Ooka. I have been hooked on this place ever since! The food is the freshest I have ever tasted and I never walk away hungry. If you like good sushi with a cool atmosphere, this is the place to go!
Favorite restaurant. I cannot say enough good things about Ooka. The food is great- fresh fish, tasty entrees, and a large variety of items... and it is fairly priced. The portions are good sizes as well. The service is quick and the staff is friendly. The atmosphere is kind of blah- dark with asian styled music. I have been going to Ooka for the past 5 years and I have yet to have a bad experience yet.
i enjoyed it. i had a lovely time here with my boyfriend and our chef was awesome!! Two thumbs up for his skills with the knifes and he was even kind enough to give my man a turn spinning an egg. I thought the food was great the meso soup in perticular and the steak. The restaurant was decorated nicely and the staff was friendly. We will be back
No stars to service. While the food was good, but the service certainly poor. While it can happen that a waiter misunderstands the order, once it is corrected, it should be complete (in this case, soup and salad did not come). We also got charged for a part of the order that never arrived. I cannot recommend the place.
Terrible customer service.
They lost a valued customer...service was the worst ever by the head hostess whom treated us worse than i could ever imagine.. She was so rude. We waited in line like every one else and there were a few empty tables and she said they were reserved which was fine. I asked if we could sit at the bar and she said yes...we sat at the bar and she came running over 10 minutes later telling us we could not sit at the bar. Gave us some lame excuse.
We walked out..better Sushi down town anyway!
fresh sushi.. I live in the area & always saw this place while driving to the movie theater & such, but never got a chance to go there until yesterday. The food was good. The price was not too cheap but not too expensive. I've got to say, the sushi was really good and really fresh. Other dinner entres came out pretty quickly, but the sushi took quite some time, but it was still fresh & really good. The atmosphere isn't great for a date, but nice for group dinners with friends where you can laugh & talk & have a great time. The service was great. Our waitress was really nice. I went on a Thursday night & yet there were still a lot of people. Now I know to make reservations, just in case, for next time. :) I highly suggest it for sushi lovers. It's fresh!
Sushi and sashimi lovers only!!. We came across this restaurant one night driving home from Willow Grove Mall, it was a Saturday night, packed with people. So we decided to try it out the next time we are in the area, it turned out to be one of my favorite Japanese restaurants in town. My husband and I are sashimi lovers, so we have been to a lot of the Jap. rest in the area and in center city. This place is fair priced, good food, fresh sashimi, and their ice cream tempera is good too. The atmosphere is great, BYOB, service is also good. But on a Friday or Saturday night, you need reservation to get a table, otherwise you could wait for hours. They also have hibachi, I never tried it, but smells really good. Overall this is a great place for anyone who loves Jap food.
Fresh. The best place in Willow Grove for Sushi. Fresh fish with interesting specials. It's the only place we go for sushi when we are in the area.
Popular and stylish suburban sushi house also offers a full-menu of Japanese classics as well as steaks and sea bass..
In Short
Willow Grove is the third link in this Doyelston-based Japanese micro-chain consistently getting the thumbs up from sushi aficionados and novices alike. While the other locations offer sophisticated sake lists and full bars, here the appeal comes in a BYO policy that saves patrons dollars and makes everyday dinning more accessible. House specialties include signature rolls such as the Lobster Dynamite Rolls with lobster, avocado, mango, covered with spicy tuna and sweet chili sauce.
excellent sushi. A great staff and wonderful sushi make this one of our favorites. The philly roll (baked) is a favorite of mine. I wish they had a bar though.
