Editorial Review for Ponzio's Restaurant & Bakeshop – by Virginia L. Moles

In Short
The setting's a bit more upscale than the average diner, but Ponzio's is still the place to go when you need the comforts of turkey with mashed potatoes or a cheese omelette. The prices are a bit steep for diner fare, but Ponzio's pays more attention than most to the details--steamed vegetables actually retain their original form and color, for example. And it's a good bet that some people come here just for the bread basket, an assortment of sweet and savory stuff baked in-house.

Insider Tips

Drinking Directions

Don't make a special trip for the cocktail lounge, which looks like it belongs in an airport concourse. Do try a draught of South Jersey's fine and sometimes-hard-to-find Flying Fish.

Crowded House

If there's a good time to go to beat the crowds, we haven't found it yet. There are six dining rooms, though, so the wait isn't usually outrageous.

The Drink

The place also has a liquor license, a nice plus if you're craving a banana daiquiri with your French toast.

A superior diner, but a little pricey. Outstanding bakery! Service is good and some of the rooms look more like a restaurant. A fine place to eat; enjoy the fresh soups, especially the award-winning Pea soup on Wednesdays!

Pros: Superior Soups, Everything is Great

Cons: little too costly

If you are looking for good food and great service, this is the place to go no matter if its for breakfast, lunch, dinner or a late night snack. They offer a variety of items to choose from and we have never been disappointed with anything we have ordered. They're bakery is the best around with a wide selection of cakes and pasteries and their prices are sometimes even better than other local bakeries.
