National chain rustles up rib eyes, T-bones and fillets in a kid-friendly, Lone Star-inspired setting..
In Short
One of the country's most successful steakhouse empires attracts a casual crowd with huge, reasonably priced steak dinners and a tempered Texan milieu (country music and imposing cattle busts). Wise diners turn off their internal calorie counters, as many menu items arrive fried, covered in cheese, or both. A typically rich meal starts with cheese fries, followed by a blue cheese-crusted fillet. Fried cheesecake ends the night on a note of Texas-sized decadence.
Overcooked asparagus and a tough steak. Meh, I wasn't a big fan of this place. I ordered a raspberry iced tea that tasted like someone poured syrup into it. The thing was so sweet I could barely get it down. Also, my steak was overcooked (I ordered medium rare) and had undercooked garlic on it. As for the asparagus, they were like mush, obviously not fresh and overcooked. The atmosphere and waiter were pretty good, but not really worth the bad food.
Pleasant Surprise. I am often hesitant to go to chain restaurants. This one is really good. Appetizers were good, steak was cooked perfectly and the service was very good. A completely positive experience. I have there 4 times and each experience was excellent. Also, not too expensive for a decent steak.
