Before Michael Solomonov opened his award-winning Zahav, he took his kitchen staff to Israel to taste the flavors of the country; this time he and executive chef Erin O’Shea field tripped to Texas to tour the down-home barbeque pits that make Texas grill what it is. The achievement here in Philly is authentic pit BBQ’ed brisket, ribs and chicken, smoked in-house and served with some good old comfort sides in a sprawling space that looks like it just got a nice scrub-down. There are more craft beers and bourbon cocktails on the menu than food, so leave your vegetarian friends behind and get ready for a meal that’s just as deliberate and relaxed as a languid Texas drawl.

BBQ is good, rest needs work. Took a group of 7 to the new hot spot on 11/20 and was seriously disappointed. While the brisket and pork belly are fairly accurate, the prices and beer are hard to swallow. Real Texas BBQ, in Texas, costs about $8-12 a plate and you get sides with it. At Percy Street, a 6-oz bowl of coleslaw was $7 and it took 2 lb brisket, 1.5 lb pork belly, 1 lb ribs, and 7 'large' sides to leave 7 people hungry. I liked the adventurous beers, but my friends just wanted a miller lite, so they didn't drink. We ended up spending $33 pp and were still hungry. NEEDS WORK!!
