Named after the well-traveled Greg Vernick, who came home to open this spot after years criss-crossing the globe for Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Rittenhouse's new go-to takes the elements ID'd in its subtitle — Food & Drink — quite seriously, but there's no stuffed-shirt hullabaloo here. The fulfilling menu boasts an international bent, with nothing obtuse or out of reach — order the roast chicken or whole fish and you'll know what we mean. A sharp boutique bar program coaxes in cocktail nerds, too.

Seasonal mocktails at Vernick are sophisticated enough to match the food. Expect crisp combos like ginger and lime, raspberry-basil or lemonade with mint.

At Vernick, the food taste as good as it sounds. Sea urchin with warm scrambled eggs. Crispy potatoes and shishito peppers. Great cocktails too.
