Fast food doesn't necessarily have to be crass food, and in the cast of Center City's Hip City Veg, it doesn't even have to feature meat, either. This 100 percent vegan operation tends to get slammed for lunch and dinner (don't stress, lines move pretty fast), and it's no mystery why: They've figured out how to take junky, typically-terrible-for-you classics like burgers, cheesesteaks and taco salads and make them fresh, plant-based and — most impressively — damn good.

Lunch line might be long (and for delicious reasons) but it moves fast. Order by phone to shorten the wait. My fave is the Chopped Med Salad.

I like Hip City's 100% vegan chicken ranch sandwich better than any actual-meat chicken ranch sandwich I've ever had. It's that good.
