Tips for Shank's Original Pier 40

Shanks, no thanks!.
I had read so many reviews of shanks so I went to try the cheesesteak.
It was average at best and the fact that I had to remove two pieces of unchewable grizzle from my mouth while eating it made it less than average.
Needless to say I will no be returning.

Citysearch Editorial Review. If they ever make yet another Rocky sequel, there should be a scene shot at this miniature outpost of the famous South Philly hoagie shop because basically, it’s hard to find a place that’s more 20th century South Philly than this. Union guys pull their trucks over to Pier 40 to fight for floor space as they stand around waiting for roast pork and chicken cutlet sandwiches while watching highlights of the game on ESPN. When it’s warm outside, take advantage of the (industrial) water view at a sidewalk table.
