One of the hardest reservations to get in the city is at this elegantly quaint French BYOB, run by gracious Parisian Pierre Calmels, former executive chef at Le Bec-Fin, and his genial Lyon-born wife, Charlotte, whose pedigree was also polished at some of the city’s finer French fooderies. The two have created a tight, tight menu that changes every week and focuses on the most traditional Gallic fare, served to stately Philadelphians and suburbanites by impeccable staff clipped from the hallowed halls of Le Bec. The white table-cloth restaurant’s single small room puts patrons within whispering distance of one another, which makes it easier for les snobs du vin to show off their prized vintages.
