Citysearch Editorial Review. The Piazza is unlike anything else in Philadelphia and reminds many of its visitors not of Philadelphia at all, but, rather, Europe, with its grand cobblestone courtyards that serve as public gathering spaces. This piazza, much like most of Northern Liberties’ planned developments, is a Bart Blatstein endeavor--one that brings three modern apartment buildings into harmony with floor-level retail and that central one-square-block courtyard designed to hold myriad free events for residents and visitors. This project truly solidifies Northern Liberties’ arrival as a destination for all ages of professionals and creative types with medium-to-high incomes from all over the region (yes, even the Main Line), rather than attracting just the neighborhood’s prior fan base of tattooed craft-beer snobs.
