An outdoor mosaic wonderland.. Outdoor mosaic wonderland serves as unofficial headquarters of the famous mirror-and-tile art that glorifies buildings all over the South Street district. If the distinct and curious mosaics that creep all over many of the structures that populate the South Street district serve as the public expression of artist Isaiah Zagar’s creativity, then Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens might be considered the grand palace of his inspiration. In one of the world’s most stunning examples of glass, tiles and trash spun into a dazzling and funky visual and tactile motif, Zagar has turned this once-vacant lot into 3,000 square feet of awe-striking labyrinthine beauty. Although Zagar started uplifting the space in 1994, he continues to breathe life into it by continually encouraging its evolution with his own artistic contributions and live community theater and performance.
