Disgusting Racial Discrimination.
I am completely appalled by the display of blatant racial discrimination I witnessed at this establishment last night. I was there with my husband's company's work party having a nice time, when all of the sudden an obvious altercation was happening at the bar- voices were raised and a crowd was gathering. A black woman from my group (I did not know her, but she works with my husband) came back to the table with a few others where apparently she had just been verbally attacked by a white woman at the bar. While leaning over the bar to reach for her drink from the bartender, the black woman apparently got too close to the white woman's husband, and the white woman began shrieking at her to get away from her husband. Shocked, the black woman replied- “I'm nowhere near your husband, I'm just getting my drink.” and left to come back to our table while the woman continued to scream and gesture wildly, attracting the attention of everyone in the place, including management, who came over to talk to her.
Several minutes had passed and our group was on to different topics, talking and laughing together when the managers came to our table and demanded to know “Who was involved in the altercation at the bar?” and then told the girl she had to leave, despite the fact that she hadn't done anything. Other people in our group instantly started taking up for her, insisting that she hadn't done anything to provoke the crazy woman at the bar, which we had all witnessed. Despite that, they told her she had to leave and she did, even though everyone else in our group was trying to convince the managers to let her stay. After one person asked why the couple at the bar didn't seem to be leaving, one manager replied: “They're leaving too. Our policy is that anyone involved in a fight has to leave.” So the girl left and we stayed behind, still arguing that the couple at the bar was not leaving.
After about 20 minutes of this, it not only became apparent that not only had they kicked out the black girl without even finding out from the countless witnesses what had happened, but they let the white couple stay and GAVE THEM FREE NACHOS!
I also find it interesting that soon after mall security showed up- in the form of a retired black cop- the white couple was finally told they had to leave as well. The woman then stood up, swung her coat in the air angrily and shouted “God help her if I see her in the parking lot-” (then turned to glare at us) “Or any of her little friends!!!” Yeah. I think it was obvious the completely calm black girl was at fault here.
I'm so disgusted by how all this went down, and even if you take the racial discrimination factor out of the situation, management handled the whole thing poorly and acted like jerks to us when there was no need for it. Especially since my husband's company had just shelled out a small fortune to have their holiday party there, and management couldn't even hear them out. Revolting. We will not be going here again, and I highly doubt anyone in our group will be. If I were management at this Dave & Busters, I would be seriously scared about the backlash that this incident will cause when corporate starts getting all the outraged phone calls.
