Best Burritos in Town!. For a Saturday night I was thinking we'd have to wait a long time for a table but as we walked in behind the hostess she immediately grabbed menus and sat us! Service was super quick which was good because we were in a hurry, and our server was awesome! We give a super thumbs up to the Chicken and Fish Burritos. HUGE! For $10 we totally had leftovers for later and were completely full when we left.

Yesterday was my third visit. In general, service is fast, and so far, I've never had to wait for a table even though the place has been fairly crowded. The drink list is big, there's a good selection of beers, wines, tequilas and whiskeys ($4 shots!). A pitcher of Kenzinger is $12.
For apps, the onion rings and fried pickles are delicious, not to mention the endless chips and salsa, which comes with salsa verde and a smokey salsa. The smokey salsa is amazing! Of the entrees, I've had or sampled the fish and chorizo burrito (very good), the taco salad (huge and delicious) and the wagyu sandwhich (amazing and really, really tender). The burritos are actually two tortilla wraps with sides. The Grande burrito however is a traditional (and huge) burrito.
This is definitely the best tex mex place in the area. They actually serve sides with their burritos (not a given unfortunately), their food is delicious and it comes out fast. Service is great and the staff is very attentive.

Im new to philaldelphia. I moved here from Texas 4 months ago and am OF COURSE looking from a little bit of home. Sweet Lucys is great but not Texas Bbq. I saw some adds for El camino and decided to give it a try. WOW!! is my thoughts. Texas to the T if not better. Im not sure if they have a pit but the smoke was awesome, not to smokey and I love the fattier pieces of brisket. My service was sweet, the waitress was attentive and not too annoying.The Mac was creamy and cheesy, not what I expected at all and the jalapeno were a nice surprise. Meat wise....ribs, eat ribs ..all I'm gunna say.
Mexican wise I was impressed. I read that Juarez is the point of the menu and having been there being from Texas, I know what to expect. It was simple and I loved the salsas. My waitress told me that they make their tortillas fresh to order, bit of an over achievment but soft and you can tell the difference from say mission brand. I had the fish burrito which I think was grouper and it was crispy not soggy at all and I dug the sauce on it. I ate the purple cabbage on the second one and thought it tasted alot better with it on the burrito and not on the side. My girlfriend had the carnitas which were INSANELY good!! She got a side of guacamole and it was fresh and right on. If your looking for a typical rice bomb with beans and cheese they have a gringo with your choice of stuffings. Juarez (if I remember this right) was the first place of the burrito and as they say on the menu "little burros" so you know that its not what you would be familiar with. They were simple and traditional of Juarez and well done. Being from the Southwest I got it. I think that any place trying to do something different will have people not understand and judge from that but having been to both places. I got it. Go it's different and cool vibe! Cheap prices and a stand out in Northern Liberties...you gotta love a place that has 3 large tvs beer and good food!! I know we did!! Thanks and kudos!

Opened by artist Owen Kamihira, who owns Bar Ferdinand across Liberties Walk, this self-proclaimed "cowboy border bar" splits its menu and its identity evenly between Texas and Northern Mexico. With a dusty Southwestern decorative motif, a full spread of Texican cocktails and cervezas, and a food listthat easily identifies its BBQ vs. its burrito items, everyone in a group with divergent tastes can leave satisfied. The crowd here is standard Northern Liberties, if Northern Liberties grew a black mustache and donned a cowboy hat or sombrero.
Terrible service, mediocre food, middling beer, and rather high prices.
For appetizers we ordered chicken wings and seitan wings. The chicken's dry rub was good, but the protein itself was cooked to a consistency that one might call "slimy." The seitan on the other hand was nicely flavored and crispy. We also had chips and salsa, which any Mexican restaurant should be able to do. It came with 2 salsas: smoked and verde. The verde was an abomination: ground up tomatillos...no salt, no spices. The "smoked" one was far from smoked- just chopped tomatoes, onions and a bit of cilantro and salt (essentially a basic pico de gallo found at a condiment bar). I ordered from the "Texas" menu with the wagyu beef brisket and ribs with spicy sauce. The sauce was good, and the meat was smoky,moist,and mostly acceptable. The brisket however was very fatty. My boyfriend ordered an $11 barbacoa burrito and upgraded to the plato for an extra $5. When one thinks of a $16 burrito meal you'd imagine a formidably sized mexican wrap with all the fixins. This alleged burrito turned out to be two finger-sized tortillas (slightly larger than a 7-11 taquito) with a tablespoon each of what tasted like dry shredded pemmican meat crammed into only one end of each little tube. There was nothing else in these odd little "burritos"- quite literally, the only ingredient beside the meat was a flour tortilla. The rice and beans addition to this "meal" were mushy, unseasoned, and revolting in appearance, texture and flavor.
That being said, the meat dishes there are passably executed, but the price tag should command a higher level of quality for everything on the plate (and some sides should be included). If you are not a tasteless aging hipster sheep, and must still go to this place for whatever reason, I suggest you order an all-meat item from the Texas side of the menu.
