Would go back if had nowhere else to go. Went there this past weekend on a Saturday night. It's a nice atmosphere but the bouncers are pretty rude. There's a little short thick neck dude that thinks he's head of security. He has a bad attitude no matter what he's doing and he's a total a-hole.The other bouncer is a perve and he told me and my friends he would let us bypass the line to get upstairs if he could "do" the three of us. You do have to wait in line to get upstairs, I assume it's for the exclusivity but when you get up there the whole atmosphere changes. The music is a whole lot better up there and it get's pretty crowded so it's well worth the wait. Tho around 1:00 am they started playing whitney Houston, and Aretha Franklin and even threw in a little MJ. You def. do have to have a drink to get upstairs even though there's a bar up there. The outside deck is really nice and when it's cool they have the heat lamps up. There's a flat screen tv up there and a section for private parties. The only downside is that when they close the doors you can't hear the music but I guess it's good for any conversation you might want to have. I've never had the food so I can't comment on that but drink prices aren't too bad and they do put enough alcohol in them. They have a coat check which is a plus and it's only $2. All in all it's not a horrible place once u get past the bouncers so like I said I would probably go back if I have no other place to go.
Never go here.
Went here 2 weekends ago and the second floor smelled like v0mit. If that wasn't a tell-tale sign to jet, the extremely rude service was. The staff at Vango clearly does not know how to treat its customers. I've never had an experience like this before. They definitely need a lesson in company-client relationships.
Never go to Vango unless you want to be treated poorly as a paying customer.
Sketchy.
Not a lot of bars in Philly search your purse before you enter (which is surprising, given this is Philly...). This bar will search your bag-- which was our first red-flag. And you're not allowed to take in water. Even if it's in a SEALED bottle. I always carry water in my purse; health-wise, it's a good idea to have a bottle in-hand. Especially in this place because it takes forever to get some from the bar itself. Confiscating coke and weeding out minors should be a priority over confiscating my bottled water.
People definitely v*mited (CitySearch will not let me type the full word) somewhere on the second floor because it reeked. I guess that's likely to happen on Saturday nights in a lot of bars; but I've never smelled it like that before.
You have to wait in line to get to the roof. And your wait will be longer if you are white. Which is very unfortunate, given the majority of Philly is color-blind.
Great Place!. Love this place, great food, nice staff. Just got home from spending the evening there for Latin Night. What's better than drink specials and dancing?!
Party Saver!. I recently had a party reservation at a nearby club, which began jerking me around. I decided at the last minute to move my party to Vango. They were very accomodating on short notice. They only required a small deposit, which was credited to my tab the night of the party. They have a huge drink variety and the appetizers were to die for! Check this place out, especially for large parties!
Not worth it.... I put a deposit down to have the second floor reserved and a guest list of over 50 people. I distinctly reviewed the terms with them over the phone several times prior to the event. He says "Yeah.. second floor, no wait to get in." The owner, Dia, played dumb when I confronted him that night when the second floor was not reserved and the guest list was not honored. Poor management.... trust me, take your business else where. My friends and I are never going there again.
Money Hungry....... LOSERS!!!. Was there over the weekend with some of my husbands business associates and ordered a bottle of Vodka. The service was GREAT the whole time we had the bottle as soon as it was gone we were told that we would have to order another bottle or move. It was 1:00 AM at that this point so we decided to just order drinks. The host paid for the first round but said we still had to move. He literally came back in two minutes and said NOW. I am sorry but this is not how you treat someone who just spent $300.00 in your establishment. I will NEVER go back ther eagain and would not recommend it to anyone I know.
Great food, staff, atmosphere, and drinks!. Was just at Vango last weekend for a party, and had a blast! The staff was excellant, food was served quickly and was amazing. The sushi was fresh and the best around. Even if you don't like sushi, there is sure to be something on the menu for you. They have a list of cocktails specific to Vango, and I've tried most of them, and I wasn't let down at all. It's really easy to book a private party there, just call or send an email. People friendly, and definately worth a visit.
Loved the atmosphere!. The skybar is amazing, no matter how cold it is, you have to get upstairs and check it out. No cover charge, which is great. Food was excellant, as were their signature cocktails. The view from the roofdeck was beautiful and I definately recommend checking this place out!
