Editorial Review for G – by James Zeleniak

In Short
Foregoing the elevator up to the steakhouse upstairs and heading down into the subterranean digs of G feels like you're descending into a post-modern speakeasy. A cascading wall of trickling water is only overshadowed by an electronic waterfall of "electronic wallpaper" across the room. A comfortable lounge and bar upfront, replete with requisite flat screens is at once slick and welcoming, underscored by luxurious and stylish appointments. Multiple room configurations make G a flexible spot for parties of all sizes. Decidedly more of a nightspot than restaurant, G's food comes from the acclaimed kitchen upstairs at Davio's. A selection of tempting small plates includes tuna carpaccio, cheesesteak spring rolls and burger sliders. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly.

Insider Tips

What to Eat

Philly-style cheesesteak spring rolls take the cake, but braised short ribs and burger sliders will do you just fine.

Know Before You Go

Keep your coat on and don't leave it in the car either --- G's coat check is welcomed return to civilized days of nightlife.

Save Money

Late afternoon happy hours offer reduced signature drinks, as well as stepped up wine and beer selections.

The Extras

Celebrities other paparazzi dodgers can seek solitude in the private bank vault only available to those deep of pockets.

Me and my girlfriends were bored so we went to G [it stands for gross yuk and double yuk] the standing out front to make it seem like you are waiting to get in a hot ny city club was ridiculous. there were not even enough pepole to make up a line. So we go in and this a#$&()*%e named Mark tried to pick up me and every thing that had on a skirt. To start with what a pretentious jack A@#. Boy did he think he was somthing he is nothing You need a diet fat boy He reminded me of some loser that was from Greys Ferry or Kennsington back in the real low life days. Me and my friends just wanted a relaxing time, not some Saturday night fever 1977 dump.To have some loser who in no way owns the place running around trying to pick up on every female and throwing around iam the owner line! Also coke has been out since the 1980s dumb dumb .Some numb nut moran backer who must rocks in his head or to much coke in his head got conned into lending this creep the money for this bad investment[ somebody is going to lose more then their shirt on this dump!. This place will be closed within a year. for sure. I am thinking of seeking legal council about WHAT HE DID.

Pros: RUN FROM THIS HOLE

Cons: THE OWNER IS THE CON

I broke up with my girlfriend about a month ago. She i very well known in the city and very networked. I decided to take my entire family and friends along with my new girlfriend to G to celebrate my dads anniversary. I spent $1300 in the VIP at G where i was made to give both my ID and my Credit Card. When i went to leave after a few drinks i asked for my tab, paid and left. I was never reminded by my server that i had my Id and Card still with her. Of course when i tried to call no one was available. This was a friday, i didnt get ahold of anyone till tuesday after numerous messages. When i did i was told by someone that he was looking for it but all he could find was my credit card, no ID. I called my X who im still friends with who called and flipped out at the staff about how unprofessional it was for someone to lose an ID. Her manager friend calls her back and says " I know how unprofessional this is but...We thought he was cheating on you so we lost his ID. And of all people to come get it back it was you." 2 Days later my ID appeared out of nowhere, so i have it now. This is the type of staff that the G lounge has working for them.
