Tips for Ron Hartman Woodwork

June 28, 2012

Ron just completed a job for me replacing a 3 story railing. I was concerned about the sturdiness being that the railing I was replacing was real wobbly and the stairs weren't in the best of shape. When he was complete with the job I was pleasantly surprised at how sturdy it was! Like a rock! He did an awesome job. Easy to communicate with, every time I called him he answered. Started on time, finished on time and exceeded my expectations.

Great work!. I remodeled much of my house myself and had been putting off doing my stairway railing for some time. My stairway is slightly unordinary so I called my local guy who does all of the jobs I can't handle myself. He looked at it and told me to call a professional. I received Ron's number through a family member and he came out within a few days to do an estimate. The next day he sent me an estimate which seemed very reasonable for the amount of work I needed done and I was delighted to find out that he could start within the week.

Ron called me the morning he was coming out to do the work to let me know he was running a little behind, but it was no problem at all for me. I appreciated the call and honesty in why he was running a little behind. Ron worked quickly and was able to complete the job within the day. Ron even called me to ask if he could use a piece of scrap oak I had laying around as it would save me money. Of course I would like to save money! When I came home from work I had a beautiful new stair rail installed and there was no dust or debris anywhere. To boot, Ron noticed a few loose treads on the stair case (I only noticed them once they were pointed out) and Ron reattached them just to help me out -- no extra charge.

Overall, Ron's speed, price, quality of work and communication were top notch. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone who is looking to do a railing or any other stair work.

Excellent woodwork. We were were referred to Ron by a friend who recently had his entire stairs rebuilt by Ron. Our stairs were in need of repair and it wasn't exactly a straightforward job. After our initial phone conversation, Ron came out shortly thereafter for an initial assessment. He was very thorough in his measurements. Prior to Ron coming out, we did have another company come for an estimate. Ron was much more thorough and detailed. He gave us all of our options, and left us with some ideas and websites for us to browse through.

We decided to go with Ron. He came out as scheduled. He put in very long days in the summer heat, and finished the job on time, if not earlier than he first projected. We are very, very happy with the results. He was also clean and courteous (our daughter was about three months old at the time).

We have since had numerous contractors i n for various things, and they have commented on how well our stairs were done. I do not hesitate to recommend Ron to any friend or family member who needs stair work for their house

Ron is a professional and really skilled craftsman. Without a doubt, stairs are one of the toughest carpentry jobs to tackle. Even though I have done most of the work in our new home myself, I didn’t even want to attempt the complexities involved with installing rails and balusters in our home. Ron came out when he said he would, took measurements and gave recommendations. Less than two weeks later we are using a gorgeous new railing that was obviously installed by a true craftsman with years of experience. Besides the install, unlike most contractors, Ron covered all of our living room and dining room in drop clothes to protect our wood floors and furniture while working – he is a true professional who cares about his work. It took him one full day to install (that’s it)! If you need a new railing or repairs to an existing, I would not hesitate to contact Ron (I will be, again, in the spring for our basement rails).

Unprofessional and not worth the hassle.. Ron is really unprofessional. It took us 3 months to get a railing installed (when he told us it would be 6 weeks). He cancelled twice because he didn't order the right parts, and didn't even call me to let me know. I had to call him the night before he was scheduled to come to my house, and that is when he informed me that he couldn't do the work. This happened twice. It finally got done, and looks fine. Nothing special. However, if I had to do it again I would go with someone else, because this wasn't worth the hassle.
