Editorial Review for La Fontana Della Citta – by James Zeleniak
In Short
As anyone who has been to La Fontana's sister restaurant at the Jersey shore can tell you--basic Italian is sometimes anything but. Sure, the acclaimed calamari is a toothsome treat prepared to minimalist perfection, but dare to delve into deeper waters where Osso Buco, Orange Roughy and Risotto Agli Scampi excel as well. Pasta e Fagioli pleases especially finicky Italian critics. And a frothy tiramisu is the perfect treat to share over heady espressos.

I, along with 4 other women, made a 6:30 reservation for a Saturday. After the server placed our order he came back to tell us that the prices for the appetizers would be double!! (Not listed on the menu) Let's just say that a $20 plate of fried calamari was not worth it! The other plates were not good (eggplant rollatini was slop, mozzarella was old and rubbery, mushrooms were soggy and hadn’t been drained properly.) $20 bucks for each of these is just ridiculous. At the end they had the audacity to put an automatic gratuity on the check. Nowhere had that been specified on the menu for certain table sizes. When I asked for it to be taken off and to speak to a manager the server had the nerve to start yelling at me. I really felt like we were taken advantage of and never have I been so disappointed and downright furious at a restaurant.
Cons: service and food

I highly recommend this restaurant. The food and service are excellent. I have been there numerous times and it never disappoints.
