Worst Bar in Philly!. Don't know what some of these reviewers were on while writing good things about this place, but I should have taken some before spending my night at Bamboo. Could be one of the smallest bars in town, you figure if they are going to put a place off the beaten path they would find a larger room. The place is about 6 feet wide and 30 feet deep...no exaggeration. That was fun when I was younger and didn't mind getting my toes stepped on and being smash against a wall. Save your empty drinks, because you are going to need something to use to go to the bathroom.(There is ONE stall for both guys and girls to share...I hope the girls don't mind squatting in urine). One more thing, all of the girls that work there look like they came in second place in an Axe fight.…
An instant favorite. Found my way to Bamboo this weekend and had a great time...what I remember of it anyway. I thought the DJ was great and while the place was pretty crowded, the bartenders (Hot bartenders) did a hell of job taking care of everyone. The decor is really cool w/exposed brick walls, bamboo ceiling and dimly lit chandeliers. The crowd was young 20's-30's, goodlooking, friendly and there to have fun. I didnt make it back to the VIP area w/bottle service but think next time thats the place to be. It is definitely different from any place in Philly and i'll be back often.…
Great atmosphere, something different. If you are looking for a new spot to spend your Friday night, I would give Bamboo a shot. The music was mostly good except for a poor 80's montage in the middle of the night. The crowd is an interesting mix of 20-30 somethings professionals. The drinks are a bit pricey so make sure you drink every last drop, but it is worth a visit if you are tired of the same, tired rittenhouse and old city bars/crowds. Bottle service is available, but not required to get a table, which is a nice change from most local bars and lounges.…
Finally!.
It is about time this city did something different, and in a different location for that matter, other than the usual Old City and Rittenhouse drama. From my experience, this place promotes to a
professional crowd that wants good service. Decor is sick... whoever did the design. Exposed brick and bamboo ceilings are a nice touch, in addition to the seemingly endless bar area that sort of glows as you come up the stairs.
Simple---good job. Will be there often....good prices on bottle service too. Also there are 2 other spots on the same corner that you can bounce in and out of all night...totally different atmospheres..Would check it out...by the end of the night, i was trashed in what appeared to be a neighborhood bar/tavern...turns out, it was right next door....…
Never Again!. Went to this bar on the recommendation of some of the user reviews I read, but they must be on Bamboo's payroll because my friends and I were completely disappointed. Not sure if it was an off night(It was a Saturday) but the vibe in this place was dead! Maybe my expectations were high when it was described to me as a NYC type lounge...I think the person who told be that might have been thinking of a Newark, NJ Lounge. The place seemed kinda seedy, the Bamboo on the ceiling was cool, but that's about it. Looks like they cheapd' out when converting this place to a 'lounge'. My advise: stay in Center City or Old City if you are looking for a classy place with classy people.…
