In Short – Behind a Neapolitan-hued storefront in the city's booming B3 (Blocks Below Broad) neighborhood sits this cute cafe dedicated to chocolate and desserts. Young, good-looking 20-somethings gather ground trays of fresh-dipped fruits, rich brownies and dainty truffles, while others settle into the cozy couches to sip away at a mug of liquid pleasure.

the BEST place for desserts!

by leiraelle at Citysearch

I LOVE this place. I'm surprised that there are any negative reviews, because I've never had anything I don't like. The decor is adorable, so is the presentation. The hot chocolate is super thick, but they'll thin it out with hot milk if you ask. Their cupcakes are the best and the tarts are to die for. Their individual chocolate pieces are pure perfection (try the Orinoco or Peanut Butter Meltaway), and just one or two is plenty for the night.

My only complaint is how busy it gets (although the staff still seemed pretty friendly both times I came in when there was a line out the door). Come during the daytime or you'll be forced to get everything to go. Last time I went in they said they'll be opening a few new locations, so hopefully it'll lower the traffic.

Overall, definitely a 5-star place!

  • Pros: best chocolate ever!
  • Cons: gets pretty crowded on the weekends

Not all that!

by bailey2323 at Citysearch

Thought I would stop in because I heard all the buzz. Got a cappucino and a strawberry stuffed cupcake. The cupcake tasted like it was a day old, quite dry but the whipped cream on top helped. The cupcake had a strawberry cut in half on top but they left the leaf on the strawberry which was all wilted and made the strawberry inedible. As I was waiting for my cupcake, I looked in the window where some baked goods were being made and saw one of the cooks putting batter in a bowl using her fingers which were NOT GLOVED. Luckily, she didn't lick them or pick her nose in front of me or else I would have walked out. Won't go back. Totally overrated. Staff was helpful but didn't seem too happy-no smiles (maybe they should eat some chocolate but then again maybe that doesn't taste good either!!)

  • Pros: whipped cream
  • Cons: cupcakes/cappucinos

not bad

by i_c_foodnetwork at Citysearch

Their petit hot chocolate is a small espresso cup full of thick chocolate. Very decadent and tasty, but thick. The yellow cupcake with chocolate frosting is ok (I'm a cupcake snob). The chocolate frosting was tasty, but the cake part had a muffin-like texture, rather than a fluffy cake texture. It also tasted more like angel food cake rather than yellow cake. Overall, my first time experience was not bad.

  • Pros: good price, interesting
  • Cons: yellow cupcake

Cramped chocolate store, but tasty treats inside

by kcan at Citysearch

I went to this business last night around 9:30pm. Service is quick, but the space is really small for both customers ordering food and those sitting at the small tables. It was really crowded at that time of night; it seemed like it was a stop after dinner and before the bar. The prices are more than your average candy bar at Wawa, but the chocolate desserts are a nice treat. Lots of 20-somethings drinking fancy coffee and hot chocolate drinks and munching on yummy chocolates and desserts. Here's what we purchased: apple cider, coffee, hot tea, mocha chocolate cake (feeds at least 3-4 people), 2 belgium waffle triangle with a caramel middle, dipped in chocolate, and covered in chocolate chips, "junk in the trunk" -- a coconut/chocolate chip cookie square, and a raspberry bar; total = $30. A bit much for desserts, but it was pretty good. Also, be ready to pounce on a table especially if it's busy night.

  • Pros: variety of desserts
  • Cons: parking, not enough seating
