many visits (10) over last 12 months

by ahlexhatcher

each time I've been there, I'm already looking forward to coming back.

I never expected to read the other reviews that were so hostile. I guess speaking up or asking a question or two is too difficult for folks.

I've had the fish and chips numerous times, the steaks and a few different types of fish. All were great. The one meal that was bland was comp'd.

in fact, I'm going again this weekend. I'll be sure to order something different this time.

  • Pros: great irish pub food, good prices
  • Cons: occasionally a slow bartender (tends to chat with others)

If they get a professional in there maybe it'll be better

by chrisval

now granite it is an irish restaurant. if your not familiar with irish food, yeah you might think it's nasty, BUT they need to start looking into the OLDER IRISH RECIPEE COOK BOOKS. if they want it to be an irish pub. than nerve food the irish way... yes i know there are some things that are irish food. but a lot of it is not.. like chicken fingers and fries and cheese burgers and things like that. cook all irish food... if people dont like the IRISH food there and they rather get chicken fingers, point them down the street to wendys.....

THIS IS AN IRISH RESTAURANT... KEEP IT AN IRISH RESTAURANT OR RENAME IT WENDYS

  • Pros: the pros about it is that it use to be good
  • Cons: its not anymore

Food made my chidren and I violently ill

by chajenalf

I really enjoyed Sligo when it first opened but have been there only once this past year due to being busy with the kids. The kids and I decided to go in yesterday while we were in Media for the day.

Upon my first bite, I was sickened. I checked the kid's food and it was also bad, I suspect it was what the food was cooked in. The waitress was first unresponsive and eventually refused to take the food off the bill. Fast forward about an hour and a half and my son and I were VIOLENTLY ill. We both had only taken one bite and I didn't even chew or swallow mine. My poor son spent the evening in the OR.

I went there in person today to tell the manager about it and was treated very poorly. First, they refused to find the manager. The man I did speak with immediately started shaking his head while I tried to tell him what happened and then just denied any possibility that their food made us sick. He belligerently tried to explain to me what black pudding was (I knew) and eventually resorted to a dismissive "Yeah, okay lady." He wasn't responding to me being offensive or irrational for I am very uncomfortable with confrontation and could barely make myself heard as it was.

I am sad this happened. I love Media. I love Irish pubs. I expect pub food to be what it is - pub food - but not poisonous! I am also not vindictive but was treated so rudely and dismissively that I now feel it important to warn others. My CHILDREN ate there. What if my fifty pound son had actually eaten his meal instead of taking one bite?

Shame on Sligo! Stay away from the place!

  • Pros: It is an attractive pub
  • Cons: food made us violently ill
