I NEVER give 5 star reviews, but....
This place was just great. My girlfriend and I couldn't get a table at the Mission Grill, so we walked to Aya's down the street. There were plenty of tables, and we had a bottle of wine with us. The server was very friendly and helpful, and made some good recommendations. I had the saffron mussel soup, which was great, followed up by an incredible leg of lamb that was just out of this world. My lady got the seafood kabobs, which were really tasty as well. Just a nice, relaxing, unpretentious, and delicious dining experience.

Belly Dancer on Saturdays!!.
Aya's Cafe has such great dishes. I had the lamb stew and it was delicious. The appetizer sampler also is a great choice. The atmosphere is comfortable and welcoming and the staff are very friendly. On Saturdays they have a belly dancer during dinner time. WOW! She managed to keep myself, my husband and our six kids in awe during her entire performance! Great food and great entertainment!

Great in every way!.
The only problem with this place is that not enough people know about it. The setting is great the owners and servers are polite and prompt. This place has a nice mix of Italian and Middle Eastern food and I make it my business to try it all. So far my favorite meal has been the lamb stew. I wish this business the best because every time I go there I feel right at home and I hope to keep it that way so try it out I am sure you'll love it.

This place has the potential to exceed just being a "great neighborhoood restaurant"..
The service is extremely attentive. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. Its surprisingly romantic. Try the moussaka, cilantro lamb stew, shwarma, baklava and the egyptian rice pudding. Everything is delish.

Great Little Place.
Aya's menu is a blend of Italian and Middle Eastern dishes with both pastas and hummus to be found on the menu. This small, family-run cafe features some unusual dishes that are always fresh and pleasantly spiced. The atmosphere is warm and quiet with attentive servers. I've taken friends to Aya's on numerous occasions and the reaction is always one of pleasant surprise. Try the grilled eggplant; it's a vegetarian's delight with cous cous and roasted vegetables.
Open weekdays for lunch - this is one of the best lunch values to be found in this part of town.

A Perfect little BYO.
I love this place! It is so intimate and cozy, and the quality of the food was at a level that was way beyond my expectations. I had the Saffron Mussel soup and I have never eaten anything so fabulous; the kabob was tender and really just perfectly grilled, not too spicy, not bland at all. My husband plowed through the lobster-stuffed ravioli and was in heaven. The rice pudding is just out of this world-- it's worth it just to go for that. Our server was attentive and sweet, not over-bearing, and the owner made us feel so welcome... We will definitely be making repeat visits to Aya's!!
