Never AGAIN! – I saw some of the recent reviews but wanted to give this place a chance. BOY AM I SORRY I DID!

We had just come over from the nearby Billiards club to grab a quick bite. It took about 10 minutes before the waitress returned to our table. We commented about the tardiness and my friend, who speaks Spanish, heard her say a rude comment about us as she walked away. How unprofessional is that? This already put a sour note on our night but we were so tired to drive anywhere else.

Our food was OK. It wasn't REAL Mexican food. The spices and textures are not the same. There was an odd stale taste to our salsa but we added some lemon and it became edible. Not once were our drinks refilled and I looked like a fool trying to flag down the waitress for every little thing that was missing from our order.

Overall, the experience was unacceptable. I have had a better time, food and service at Sabor Latino (around the corner) and I just drove by yesterday to see a new Latin restaurant next to the flower shop on the corner.

Rude From The Start – Some friends and I were looking for some latin food while in Upper Darby so someone suggested this place. I thought the place looked cute although there was a strange smell (like stale water) when we walked in. It was not enough to dissuade us so we decided to go ahead anyway.

After what seemed like an eternity, no waitress could be seen. We stood and waited for someone to seat us and started to get frustrated. Finally we were seated and we all placed our orders. Of the 4 beverages we ordered, only 2 were available. Fine...we settled for those. Our nachos had run out and we wanted another round of drinks but not once did this girl come to check on us. She was busy talking to some "Miguel" guy on her cell phone. We waved our arms to get her attention and she acted like it was all an inconvenience to her.

Our food finally came and it was cold. Obviously, her conversation was much more important than her job. We were so hungry at this point that we ate it anyway. The guacamole had too much lemon in it, the salsa had sour tomatos and my steak was overcooked.

We wouldn't go there again so beware. Don't expect a phenomenal dining experience.

UNSANITARY – I was a faithful customer since the day this restaurant opened. Its intimate set-up, tasteful decor, decent prices and good food kept me wanting more...that is, until December of 2007.

My husband and I arrived to order some "tortas" because we had heard they were quite tasty. The waitress only brought one out and since my husband was hungrier than me, I let him have it. As I waited for the 2nd one to come out, my husband gagged and pulled out 2 long black hairs out of his mouth. What's worse is the fact that he is EXTREMELY sensitive when it comes to things like that. We quickly told the waitress and she seemed flustered but took the plate back and told us she would bring out another one.

As we waited, my plate came out. I started eating and at my 4th bite, a long black strand of hair popped out from between the pieces of bread. I thought this was some sort of sick joke. How could these even be possible. Hair in 2 sandwiches? Was the chef not wearing a net? Was he/she brushing their hair on top of our food?

We finally asked for the check and reluctantly paid for the food. We wanted to leave ASAP because we both felt sick. I swore to never return to that place again and have yet to step foot in that dump again. About 2 days later, my husband and I became horribly ill with a stomach virus and didn't recover for 2 weeks! I blame that restaurant.

Later, I inquired with other people to see if something similar happened before. My own mother told me she had stopped going there because there were several instances where her food had spoiled tomatoes, sour meat or the salsa was extremely outdated.

What kind of establishment expects respect with their unclean tactics? As a Latin woman, I am ashamed that this place boasts phenomenal Mexican food. I would never want a restaurant like this representing the cuisine of my people. P.S.-Don't expect service b/c it's non-existent here.

Don't let the quaint, colorful storefront fool you!

siempre delicioso (always delicious) – you can't go wrong at this place my mom and i have been for two years .we are always treated with the exelent service the food exelent and delicioso(delicious) yummy guacamole best mole and fajitas and free margaritas bring you own tequila the prices reasonable autentic mexican cuisine I LOVE LA MARQUEZA HIGHLY RECOMMDED

slow, bad customer service, food isnt that good... – We decided to go to La Marqueza after we found out we could BYOT.

As soon as we walked in, we knew it wasn't going to be a goodexpierence, but we sat down anyway. The restaurant had a strange smelled to it and the waitress didnt even acknowlegde that we were there, so we sat ourselves down. The waitress finally came to our table and we asked if we cold have margaritas, since we brought our own tequila. Our drinks were brought to the table and the food was ordered.

Once our food arrived, I noticed that one of the meals was not what we had ordered... we ordered flautas, and they brought us 2 platters of soft tacos. I spent the next 5 mins. trying to get the waitresses attention (there were only 3 more ppl in the restaurant). When she came to our table I explained that we had ordered flautas and she responded quickly and brought them to our table; the flautas were burnt to a crisp, I know they are supposed to be fried, but that wasnt fried, it was like they left it in the oil too long, and my tacos had way to much cilantro on them, you couldnt even see the meat!). After a while we wanted water, so again we tried to get her attention (both in English and Spanish), so finally I stood up and went to the counter, I asked for 2 glasses of water and our check. I swear we waited another 10 mins, got our water but still not check, so after another 5mins, I again stood at the counter and asked for our check, looked it over and paid.

I've had bad service before, but this tops the cake, with slowness and the food wasnt all that great. I left a tip, because I know what it is to be a waitress, however her tip meter went way down throughout the night!

best mexican cuisine – la marqueza mexican restaurant they had the best food mole,enchiladas,burritos,fajitas after eating there they did have home made horchata an autentic refreshing non-alcoholic blend of cinnamon vanilla rice and milk i thought was really really good service is great makes you feel like mexico they restaurant is BYOT BRING YOU OWN TEQUILA MARGARITAS ARE FREE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
