Try Half Priced Bottle of Wine Nights on Tuesday!. I first fell in love with their beautiful mahagony bar about four years ago. They have about 12 interesting beers on tap & also have a wonderful wine list.

The dining room is spacious & the new booths are a great addition. On the menu I would recommend the Firecracker Shrimp Appetizer which has a wonderful infusion of sriracha sauce and a crisp wonton wrapped. The nachos (both regular & seafood) are to die for and could be a meal in themselves. All soups and sauces are homemade (I'm a salsa and guacamole freak!).

From the entrees list I'd recommend the ribs (which fall off the bone), the large U-10 scallops or the Lamb. They also make a great burger.

I try to make it in about once a month and am never disappointed by the service.

They also do a slammin' lunch & Happy Hour

Best in Hockessin...but that's not saying much. Six Paupers is probably the best of the worst as far as the relatively dismal dining scene in Hockessin goes. Don't get me wrong, it's far from being bad, but there is certainly room for improvement, especially for the price of a meal... For example, the "crab" nachos cut corners using prepackaged guacamole spread and the "crab" consists of only a very few salty pieces of crab. No lump crabmeat here! The tamales are uninspired, and seem prepackaged as well. As far as the entree go, the ribs are decent enough, and the crab cakes are actually quite good (they do have lump crabmeat in them even!). A recent panko encrusted sea bass special was moist and cooked perfectly but was awash in a bernaise sauce that hid the flavor of the fish. The entrees come with decent mashed potatoes and pretty but flavorless snap peas, the latter of which could use some jazzing up. The desserts are very good though and include offerings from Sweet Somethings Bakery and another local baker. The service has always been wonderful at the Paupers and the atmosphere is nice, but it's too bad that the food isn't quite as good as it could be.
