Talent replaceable; Not the customer. A friend of mine recently told me that they followed their stylist here from another salon. They shared how snobby and unprofessional Salon Vanity was to them and my friend explained they decided not to continue their relationship with their stylist due to the unwelcoming nature of the salon. The receptionist was very rude to him, he stated. He was turned off by many additional aspects, such as inconvenient parking, location, cold and snobby staff who gave him dirty looks. He's willing to pay high prices, he states. (This friend of mine has a lot of money to spend). I shared with him my personal experience of this salon which is too horrible to even explain or publish online. It is absolutely the most unprofessional place I have ever gone to. I had an average experience with my hair but it was not worth the unprofessionalism and harshness that I experienced from the staff there. They act as if the customer is replaceable. Unfortunately, they need to understand it is the other way around. The TALENT is replaceable, not the customer. I go somewhere else now where the talent is incredible and world class. I would not reccomend this salon to anyone. The tone comes from the top, and while there may have been some turnover in this salon, my poor experience was basically attributable to the ownership team. Therefore I believe this salon is still nowhere near being the 'best'. It is quite subpar actually. Getting your hair done should be a warm, relaxing, friendly experience where the staff does everything in your power to make you comfortable and look as beautiful as possible. An elitist attitude where staff is unproffessional, gives average cuts and color, and is unwelcoming and snobbish is not the ideal salon.
2 words.....
Beth Cooper.
I am a 51 year old woman who has struggled with my coarse, thick, and heavy hair my ENTIRE life. I have consulted with stylists from LA to NYC. Many of them high profile, "stylists to the stars"- I have spent more money than I'd like to admit- and walked away not liking my hair any more or even more importantly, "understanding" my hair, any better. Hair is one of the first things you notice about someone, and mine is generally pulled back in a "clip" because I just didn't know what to do with it.
Enter Beth Cooper. In my continued quest to find SOMEONE, ANYONE who could help, I consulted
Citysearch and read rave reviews about Salon Vanity and Beth. I decided to give the Salon and Beth a try.
On my very first appointment I was coming in from NJ and got into a traffic situation. I was running 45 minutes late. I figured such a high profile "city" salon would tell me to reschedule. They could not have been nicer! Fortunately Beth was a bit flexible that day, and could still work me in..."no worries". When I got there, I was so attracted to the space. It is airy, lofty, bright and non pretentious. Everyone that works there is so nice and down to earth. I met Beth, and she was bubbly, energetic, vibrant and knows her hair. She immediately started talking to me about what would look good. Colors, processes and styles. She took the time to really look at me and my hair. I could just tell she loved what she did, and that part of her job as a stylist meant to her, imparting her “tips and tricks” to her client.
I left that day with not only the best single process color, with highlights and haircut that I EVER have had....but Beth also gave me tips that have changed the way I maintain my hair- and they have made an ENORMOUS difference. I have received so many compliments, people have really noticed!! Beth takes the time with her clients, I am indebted to her. She recommended I should try the Brazilian Blowout on my next visit.
I just went back this Friday and had that done. Where I once hated my hair, I now look at it as my crowning jewel. I LOVE what she did!!! This young woman KNOWS hair and KNOWS what will work for her clients. RUN…do not walk, to get an appointment with her. She is a genius….and I am beyond thrilled to have finally found her!!
great color & salon.
i love this salon! i feel like i am in NYC ! the amount of talent is incredible !!
i got the balayage highlights about 5 months ago and i am now going to get them touched up !!! i used to go every 6 weeks for highlights, but now its every 5 months!!! my hair looks and feels beyond words!
i called every high-end salon in the city and Vanity was the only salon who actually did balayage ! one place i called even asked ME what it was LOL!
Edmondo, the owner, is super super super talented & sweet and i am just disappointed i didnt find Vanity sooner..
Salon Vanity is a girl's best friend!!!. I have been a loyal client of Danielle's for years. I was willing to go to any salon as long as she was the one wielding the scissors and the hair dye and now I am thrilled to get to visit her at this light drenched loft! She is part of a rare breed of stylist that "gets it". She has an innate ability to see your style, your face shape and your lifestyle and craft a unique look that fits all of your needs. In addition to her technical merit, her chairside manner is what keeps me coming back time and again. She is capable of evoking that girlfriend vibe without ever leaving the client in doubt as to who was the professional in charge. As a caveat to all this, I am complimented on my hair almost every day and what better calling card do you need? I feel that Danielle and Salon Vanity are a perfect fit. Talent and style always go well together. Can't wait for my next appointment!!
Great Haircut by Angela. I been getting my haircut by Angela Fong for over 20 years!!! She is marvelous!! Vanity Salon is a neat place to go for a great haircut!
My Go To Spot. I've been getting my hair cut and colored by Edmondo for years and every time I leave I look and feel like a million bucks. He's always up on the latest trends, but doesn't push if you're not interested. He knows his stuff and is a pleasure to visit with every few weeks. I highly recommend him and the salon.
Vanity is the place to go!. Vanity has a great atmosphere - fun and bright! They always have music on and the color bar is full of activity with magazines and treats. I have been to almost all of the stylists and each has their own styles and skills. Describe what you are looking for and ask the receptionist which stylist would be best for you! I have had great cuts/ color with Heather, Lori, Jennifer and Edmondo. The have great products and treatments too!
Philadelphia's #1 Salon.
In the words of Rachel Zoe - this place is BANANAS!
I started going to Salon Vanity in September of last year and I am HOOKED! Everyone there is extremely nice and professional, the stylists are very talented and they do an unbelievable job with coloring, brush set treatments, cutting, etc. Also, they do a great Keratin treatment
If you are looking for a salon in Philadelphia, this is the place to go. I PROMISE you love it!
love this Salon!.
Salon Vanity was recommended by a co-worker
and i moved from LA just about a year ago in search of a new stylist etc. I am blonde and have a Jennifer Aniston blonde color and every stylist in phila made my highlights look like a skunk! I tried so many stylists and no one seemed to know hair the way Edmondo does ! He is very creative and talented ! and he is up to date with hair trends because this salon is the only salon that seems to do the balayage highlighting technique !!! i will never let anyone touch my highlights or cut my hair as long as i am in the east coast! I have nothing but great things to say about him and the whole staff is wonderful!!
as well as Heather who does my Keratin treatments at Vanity!
The salon is also very hip and beautiful!
I do not reccomend. Omig. I do not reccomend this salon to anyone. First let me state that they do not stick with their prices and they give you a hundred diferent exucses on why the price has changed. I went in there for a hair cut and highlights. I do not think that this salon should be considered High End. Although the location is great and very prestigious, the staff is like being inside a room full of wannabee characters. The owner Edmondo is so full of himself its almost disgusting. There much better places to spend your money. Stay Away from this place
