In Short
Set up to mimic an urban park, this bi-level restaurant and bar is lush with potted plants, patio furniture and garden benches. The menu blends comfort foods--whole BBQ chickens, onion rings, marshmallow-topped sweet potatoes, pulled pork, mac and cheese, stuffing shaped into muffins--with light, international fare. The kitchen also turns out some of the city's best burgers--wasabi tuna, wheatberry-veggie, buffalo, turkey, and classic beef--all served on glossy brioche rolls.

Excellent Specials as long as you are not in a rush. Food was fantastic but service was quite slow. Only recommend for those with a leisurely schedule. Try the apple-grilled cheese. It is delicious.

We have been eating Sunday Brunch here off and on for a couple of years and have always been quite impressed. My wife's family was in the city this past Sunday and we took them here around noon and the place was packed, luckily the hostess, who was incredibly nice, told us to hang on just a sec and she ran upstairs and put a table of 7 together for us in the balcony area overlooking Chestnut Street. Everything was great as usual and the food came up fast and hot, my father-in-law claimed that the "Devil Burger" he had might have been one of the best cooked burgers he ever ate in a restaurant, and that is saying a lot coming from him! I am not one to come on to websites and write reviews, but after my wife pointed out to me that someone wrote a review on this site, and mentioned our family significantly I felt compelled to have my say. Our server/bartender was more than accommodating to everyone in our party, and was constantly smiling and laughing, pretty much being on top of everything from what I could tell. I thought she was wonderful. Not to mention the fact that there were other employees paying attention to us as well. Also, the manager (I believe) served us half our food and refilled our coffees, talking to us about the upcoming Giants/Bengals game and bringing up a dish of goldfish crackers for my sister-in-law's infant. As for the person that complained about their experience and us specifically, I'm not quite sure what they where smoking, but some people can just not be pleased. It's a shame, because we'll be back again, and again, and again. Devil's Alley really has figured out how to do brunch right in this city, and that is an affordable relief!
