Great for games. Beer, tv's playing all the games I want to watch and....I wish I could put food because then this would be the best sports bar ever, but the food really doesn't do it for me. The music for the games gets me going and the beer specials are always good. There are a ton of waitresses walking around (not sure why so many?) so they always get to you pretty quickly. The place is huge but fills up which makes your game experience that much better. If they'd take the Steelers banner off the wall I probably would have given them another star.
Bama Fans....Stay AWAY. Horrible Experience.
One star is a gift. I am in South Jersey for business, and wanted to find a place to watch Bama beat Duke (ROLL TIDE). I found the Fox & Hound, and drove an hour to get there.
Upon my arrival, I saw a sign that said the F & H validated parking. To me, and everyone else who travels, that means they cover the cost. Well, not F & H. But I didn't know this until I left.
When I asked where the Bama game was being shown, I was told 2 tv's, but one was in a room where the Texas fans were going to be at 8, so we would have to leave (BAMA played at 3:30). Several of us decided to sit in that room to watch the game, but had to deal with constant volume issues. Apparently, the person in charge of the remote doesn't yet know that commercials are always louder than the sporting event. So when a commercial came on, the volume would be turned down, and it wouldn't be turned back up until one of us asked to have it returned to an audible level.
Worse yet, my waitress brought my check toward the end of the second quarter. I had only had one beer and a soup/salad combination. I guess she thought I was finished. I didn't like the soup, and when I told her, she shrugged and said, "No??" I didn't like the soup because it was supposed to be beer cheese soup. It tasted like Velveeta with hot pepers. My salad was good, but it really takes a pro to ruin a salad.
I continued to watch the game, trying desperately to catch her eye, but she was too engrossed in conversation with her coworkers.
I was finally able to order another beer, and was brought the wrong kind. I couldn't get her attention AGAIN, so I went to the bar myself to correct the situation. By this time, everyone else who had been watching the game had left. We really weren't made to feel welcome there.
The parking situation now added more anguish to an already horrible experience. I was given a ticket to use in the parking garage. I got into my car, drove to the exit, inserted the ticket, only to be told by the machine that my ticket was defective. I parked again, went back to the restaurant, and spoke to the manager. He gave me a new ticket, and I explained the problems I had had earlier. He apologized. I left. Again, I got to the exit and my ticket wouldn't work. I phoned the F & H and the manager said he would be right out. Instead, a parking attendent came to my rescue, and explained that 2 tickets had to be inserted. She also told me that my "validated" ticket only gave me a $5 discount on parking. So I had to pay $18 for parking. To say I was angry is an understatement. I called the manager to tell him how upset I was with the parking, and his response was, "I can only apologize so much." Is this a new form of customer service?????
I assure you, I will stay in my hotel and watch Bama on my tiny computer screen before I will set foot in this place again!
great sports bar great servers packed for big games lots of fun. the bartenders are awesome and very accommodating about putting games you want on tv; great new high def tvs. great crowd on game days. good food and you always meet friends there. love it, go 3 or 4 x per week
Terrible. By far, the worst sports bar in Philadelphia. Bad food, bad service. The worst part about it is they call themselves a sports bar, but are completely clueless when it comes to sports. I can honestly say, I have been there for the NCAA football national title game, and instead of having that on the big screen, they had a Devils-Islanders hockey game on. Bad food. Bad service. Clueless management. If you want a real sports bar, do yourself a favor and drive the extra five minutes and go to McFadden's or Chickie's and Pete's.
With 30 TV's and satellite, this sports bar always has your game on..
High ceilings, a long wooden bar, a humidor with cigars for sale and plenty of beers on tap help get you in the mood for your game; and they are all on. The comfort food menu is served at tables or at the bar right up until 2am so you won't go hungry during overtime. The staff hustles to gets drinks served, making sure customers are happy and does it all with a smile.
Good place for games, average to below-average food, usually a fun crowd. Had dinner at the F&H the other night and met some friends to take in a ballgame. Overall the experience was fairly unmemorable. The food was just OK, the service was fine, and the beers were cheap. There actually did seem to be a fairly busy social scene going on and the bar was filled with people with little or no interest in the game, which is fine for those who just like to hang with people who like sports.
Good start, bad result. Center City lacks for good sports bars. F&H has potential, as it has all of the games on, a good location, and a good selection of beer. But service is generally slow and surly (they are either understaffed or poorly trained/managed) and the food is truly awful. And any mega sports bar with its salt ought to have audio boxes that can be placed on the table and tuned into the games that are shown on the screen. I hate this place but I'll still go sometimes, as there aren't many other bars in the area that have all of the games. If I had more money (and maybe I'll just pony up the dough) I'd just get the satellite package myself.
I could LOVE this place.
This place is awesome! I went to watch the college bowls and the playoffs and had the best time everytime! AND I always had the same waitress! She was really nice and always knew when to come back to refill our drinks! And the best part about this place are the guys! I mean some are not so good looking, but they are overshadowed by the cuties. So girls, if you love football as much as I do, and dont mind lookin' at some eyecandy during halftime, you should check this place out!
Oh, and for the record, this bar will have alot of Pittsburgh fans, I think it's in the bar's history or something. So for the Eagles fans: don't come here if you can't share the limelight with some Steelers fans; I am a die-hard Philly fan and will probably go other placed to watch my Eagles play.
