BEST Sushi

by kdpsu at Citysearch

This is the best sushi restaurant we have been to in the city. The roll selection is amazing and the prices can't be beat. We also love the waitresses. The only con is that we wish it was bigger.

  • Pros: Great food/byob
  • Cons: Too Small

Best sushi even better then RAW

by Erica050505 at Citysearch

My friend Mikey was talking about this BYOB for a long time so we finally made reservation for 5. Our server Jessica was amazing she was very friendly and out going. Everything came out in a timely matter. The sushi by far was better then RAW and affordable. It was such a pleasant evening, When it was time for them to close the restaurant they never made us leave or even tried to kick us out because it was getting late. I def will be going back there and soon, one of my fav BYOB's. And ask for Jessica when you go beautiful girl and a great server

Love this place!!

by winendine25 at Citysearch

I have been going to shinju for about a year now and it has never disappointed. The waitresses are very friendly, the restaurant is very cozy and who can complain about the BYO. The rolls are all so good and interesting. The sushi is very fresh and their udon soup is delicious. I no longer live in Philly but whenever I am visiting I make a trip to shinju. I can't think of a better sushi place and I have had sushi in many restaurants in many cities.

  • Pros: BYOB, fresh sushi, friendly service
  • Cons: small space, sometimes there is a wait

too much misleading hype

by jdmst77 at Citysearch

the best part was the appetizer. almost every roll is made with those cheap crab sticks. there were 3 sushi chefs and it took them longer to serve a smaller room than it did 2 sushi chefs to serve a room double the size at one of our favorite sushi places in Montgomeryville. The fish was fresh but the rolls were small and expensive for what they were worth. it seemed like a great place for a novice sushi eater who has to have Sapporo (distributed by Coors) with his meal

My wife and I will not eat there again. Out of the entire crowd, she was the ONLY Asian in the restaurant aside from the chefs and one of the waitresses.

  • Pros: trendy design, great apetizers
  • Cons: slow service, expensive, cheap crab sticks in most rolls

Amazing

by iarhyme at Citysearch

Being a very picky sushi eater, i stumbled upon this little restaurant by reading someone's review online. What an amazing find. The sushi is so fresh it melts in your mouth, the waitress is always friendly and willing to answer questions. It's great that you can bring your own (you spend less) and the atmosphere is so cute. Out of the tons of sushi restaurants i have tried, this really is the best. My fiance and I drive an hour just to eat here. My favorite place in Philly! I wish they opened one in NJ.
