Humming Tuesday to Saturday, Ten Six has tunes every evening they're open, but keep an eye out for their theme nights, which range from dubstep to Brit-mod.
Great dancing.
Danced last night at the Walnut room in downtown Philly. My son (RJD2) was spinning and I got to dance with a bunch of great folks - can't get better than that. Fabulous crowd, space was a bit small, but we made it work. (The only bad was that fake mixer they use in their drinks when you ask for ginger ale.)
I've found Philly dance spots (this and the 700 club) to be at least as good as NYC (the Village) and Chicago (Wabash area)
Surprisingly Awesome night.
So i had my bachlorette party at the Walnut room this past Saturday night. While planning this night i had a few requirements: i wanted bottle service of course, a nice atmosphere (not some fist pumping club) and great music!
Well i gotta say the walnut room came through!
The place had a great crowd, bottle service was affordable, and the music (dj) was awesome. I prefer hip hop when i want to go out and shake it and thats exactly what we got! He played not only new music but great throw backs as well! Me and my 12 girls barely sat down the whole night!
I dont know pricey the drinks our regularly but i would defiantly recommend checkin this place out if u want to have a night out with friends!!
???. I don't understand the appeal of this place? I haven't been here once where the people weren't generally corny. It's almost like this is where the half-cool people that couldn't get into other clubs go to party. I had a different friend drag me here on 3 different occasions and it's always the same lackluster crowd. Next time I'm putting my foot down!
Former standard for dance junkie 20-somethings goes upscale with a renovation, dress code, lounge atmosphere and 24-and-over door policy..
In Short
This is no longer your little sister's Walnut Room. After a major renovation in the summer of 2008 that turned down the volume on the red décor and switched it over to whites and dark woods, tonight's Walnut Room is far more sedate and loungy. While there's still a DJ and bttle service, there's a stricter door policy that forbids sneakers, hats, bar-hoppers under 24 years old, and well, kinda discourages large groups of dudes. Bartenders are working fresh ingredients and infusions into their concoctions and serve only bottled beer. Nibble food is available in the form of American "revisionist" tapas.
Great place to be on a Wednesday night!!!. So i went last wednesday, and I honestly had a GREAT time! It was ol school R&B night, and seriously, what made the night soo great was how EXCELLENT the dj was!!! It didnt start poppin off until around 12 or so, but when it did, it was great. Song after song after song was on point, and the dj knew precisely the order in which to play the songs and when to cut the songs off. Aesthetically speaking, the place is really cute; from the decor, to the bar, to the lighting. The place is actually pretty roomy length wise and width wise; there are these spacious leather booths to sit in across from the bar, and there's this cute little area in the back that i guess is used for VIP. The dance floor isn't huge, but it was still all good. The crowd was chillin...mainly young professionals...no one was actin a fool or getting out of line...guys were respectable. The service was excellent, the bartenders took care of you; they make the best apple martinis I've ever had!! But again, what really made the place great was the dj! I'm not sure how it is on weekends, or any other day during the week, but wednesday nights are definately poppin!!!!
uhmm... not the best place.... well, were do i begin, what part of this lousy experience should i start off with. how about i give you the not so bad stuff and finish off wit the why did i come to this spot. so my girl Kristen and my cousin Atrice and i decided to go to this place based on the reviews i read. so we finally arrive its about 12ish 12:30ish and we go in not so bad to start off with. i remembered the other bar to the left and we order our drinks. the bartender was nice made my apple martini just the way i like it and the price was very good for the taste, but whatever after drinking my drink i wanted to dance i had not been out in a long time i just had a baby girl and wanted to get out the house, should of never choose the crappy room. first like i said we arrived at a descent time where the party should be poppin and the music should be rockin... uhmm reality check music was whackkkk. i mean i don't mind all types of music ,gotta good beat, ill dance to it, but damn all night i heard Spanish influenced music, what happened to the so called disco, the house, the soul, there was not a single soul vibe music influence at all, dj was whack, people were dancing to entertain themselves from fallin asleep. anyways. oh did i mention this was a Saturday, if philly was like NY where i like to party i would of left and went somewhere else but all the clubs close at 2am. anyhow. if i was u reading this review i would truly consider trying a different spot.. june 9 2007. only givin this spot two stars because of the bartender, trust me this place is whackkkkkkk..
Little rude but good time. I had my first experience at the Walnut room last week and have to admit I had a very good time. I don't get out like I used to but a few of my friends have been raving about this place for a couple of months now. I'm not going to say it's the best place ever, but it was fun. The bouncers and bartenders were very rude which was a huge turn-off but I try not to let that stuff bother me too much. Definitely will stop in again when I am in the neigborhood.
cool place in a convenient location. i've been to walnut room on a couple of saturdays and a few wednesday nights. the layout isn't fantastic (kinda small and not much room to congregate) but they make up for it. there are two bars so its never too difficult to get a drink. there are a decent number of places to sit and waitresses to take your drink orders. overall i'd definitely recommend it as a cool spot to chill and have a few drinks after dinner.
awesome energy and great mix of people. I had fun at the walnut room. I went on a wednesday night. it was not too crowded when i first got there which was around 10 p.m. so i chilled and had a few drinks. then around 11 people started too show up. it was a little crowded but comfortable. it was a good mix of people. Good energy the music was hot. they had old school and new music. and there were people of all ages. Lots of smiling faces. I told all my friends to check it out. im definitely going back.
