natural environment for horses :).
The Book Family Farm is a great place for students and boarding, horses are livestock and kept that way, they were not meant to be kept in urine and manure soaked stalls waiting for their owners to come and take them out. God intended for them to be in a herd and out where they are happiest. The horses at this farm are given the choice, they decide if they want to get out of the weather by going into a huge run in or a smaller one.
The Book Farm has minors that own horses there, they have the responsibilty of feeding a few days of the week, what better way for them to learn than by experience. These horse owners came as students and didnt have horses until their parents felt they were ready to own them. They also have 2 girls that volunteer there and have done so for 5 years. They also will help anyone who owns a horse there that needs help. It will be a sad time when they go off to college.
All students who come to ride every week, are never left to their own devices, they get the help they need and are monitored for their riding ability. Most first time riders at Book Farm start out with a private lesson. This insures their safety and instructors ability to see and to know what they know if they have ridden somewhere else. The instructors DO NOT yell at their students, you may find that at other barns but not this one. It is a very encouraging place to take lessons.
The horses there range in age from a baby to a 23 year old. It gives quite a variety of different experiences for each different horse. This allows for a variety when it comes to giving lessons, its not just about riding at the BOOK FAMILY FARM, its about the whole horse and what each student can learn, from wound care to feeding, these are taught there. And YES barn chores and how to do them are taught there. So dont be surprised if your student has a manure rake in their hand when you come to pick them up :)
AWESOME FARM. i AM WRITING IN RESPONSE TO THE E-MAIL BASHING THE book family farm. i AM APPALLED THAT ANYONE WHO KNOWS THE BOOKS OR ANYTHING ABOUT THE BUSINESS WOULD STATE SUCH AN UNTRUTH. i CAME TO THE BOOKS OVER 41/2 YEARS AGO. i KNEW NOTHING OF THEM, i JUST FOUND MYSELF WITH A HORSE BOUGHT AT AUCTION, NO WHERE TO BOARD, NO WAY TO HAUL HER, AND oh i ALMOST FORGOT___SICK WITH SHIPPING FEVER! MY DAUGHTER KNEW SCOTTIE BOOK, SHE MADE A PHONE CALL AND SCOTTIE DID NOT HESITATE TO TAKE MY MARE. SHE HAULED HER FROM SOUTH JERSEY FOR ME, CALLED HER VET, AND GAVE ME HER SUPPLY OF ANTIBIOTICS 9MZ'S0, SEPARATED HER HERD FROM MY HORSE. THEN IF THAT WAS NOT ENOUGH, GAVE MY MARE HER MEDICINE EVERYDAY UNTIL SHE WAS BETTER. MY JOB TAKES ME OUT OF TOWN ALL WEEK, THIS WONDERFUL PERSON THAT YOU ARE BASHING ALSO MAKES SURE IN BAD WEATHER THAT MY HORSE HAS A BLANKET ON WHEN I'M NOT AROUND. SHE ALSO DOES NOT HESITATE TO CARE FOR HER WOUNDS. THIS BARN IS A WONDERFUL, FUN PLACE TO BOARD. NO HORSE IS ALLOWED TO BE ABUSED OR NEGLECTED. OVER THE YEARS I HAVE SEEN ONLY KINDNESS FOR BOTH HORSES STUDENTS, AND BOARDERS. AND SAFETY---THAT'S ALWAYS BEEN AN ISSUE. SO BEFORE YOU BASH THIS FARM AND THIS BEAUTIFUL, WONDERFUL HORSE LOVING PERSON YOU NEED TO GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT. AND LETS NOT FORGET THAT SHE HAS TAKEN ON MANY A HORSE THROUGH HORSE RESCUE. AND BY THE WAY- I AM VERY HAPPY TO BE A PART OF THIS WONDERFUL FACILITY BECAUSE I KNOW WHETHER I'M AROUND OR NOT MY HORSE IS NOT ABUSED OR NEGLECTED, ALL HER NEEDS ARE MET. i HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE BOOK FAMILY FARM TO ANYONE.SCOTTIE BOOK, AND HER INSTRUCTORS ARE ALL CERTIFIED INSTRUCTORS AND ALL INSURED. EVERYTHING HERE IS IN THE BEST INTEREST OF BOTH THE HORSES AND RIDERS. LAST, BUT NOT LEAST, UNLIKE YOU THE BASHER, I AM NOT HIDING BEHIND MY COMPUTER- MY NAME IS SHELBY LUCCI, PROUD OWNER OF JETTE.
great farm for horseback riding with good prices and flexibility for riders. This is a great farm. My daughter takes lessons with friends here, where she has learned a lot and has become a better rider under the guidance of the main instructor. We tried a different farm first and found that Book Family Farm is consistent in teaching lessons. The main instructor does help the students to work at their own pace. (For example, if a child is nervous she will take the time to help the child overcome his/her fear while allowing other children to work at a faster pace and try more difficult riding - cantering, jumping, etc. as their abilities and interests allow.) She does not push the students to try something which is too hard but does encourage them to take steps to become a better rider. Each week she focuses on an element of riding to help them become better riders while also allowing flexibility based on students' interests and abilities - all characteristics of an excellent teacher. The horses are well cared for as well. I would highly recommend this farm to others interested in having their children learn to ride a horse. My daughter will continue to take here, and her younger brothers and sister look forward to riding here someday as well.
Best Farm Ever. My daughter goes to this farm and takes lessons, she had two bad falls this year and was struggling with getting the horses to trot or canter. I had signed her up for extra lessons with the head instructor to give her more saddle time and everyday she was there she did better, she was so excited and so was I for her. She just did two classes in the last show and did so well I was proud of her. Everyone went out of there way there to help her out and I deeply appreciated it. She goes with the farm to a fun night every friday and has even started to participate herself, if not for the instructors and the care and love and passion that they show for the sport or there horses my daughter may not have ridden again, I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT GOOD EXPERIENCES THERE AND WOULD RECOMMEND THERE FARM TO EVERYONE WHO HAS A CHILD WHO WANTS TO LEARN TO RIDE A HORSE WHETHER IT BE ENGLISH OR WESTERN!!!!!!
By far the best!. I have been riding at the book farm for about 2 years, and I have had nothing but great experiences there! It is the most peaceful and welcoming barn I have ever ridden at in my 20 years of riding. I now board a horse there and would never dream of keeping him anywhere else! The farm uses a natural horsemanship format which may not suit everyone in the horse world, but we love our way! It has done wonders for my horse, who did not come from the best place! The head instructor/owner has a passion for horses and life that she shares with everyone she meets, I have never seen a farm owner who cared so much for all the horses at their farm, not just their own. The kids in the lesson program are great, very helpful and willing. The instructors are equally wonderful, accepting of all children and their abilities, and always encouraging them! I am so very thankful that I found this farm and the people there, they are a blessing in my life!
Book Family Farm is like a family to me. I love BBF! I have been riding here for over five years, and it has been one of the greatest experiences in my life. The people there, the horses, and the instructor are all fantastic! The BFF is like one big, happy, family, and everyone there would go out of there way to help you. The horses there are healthy, happy, and just the right weight that a horse should be; "skinny" and "worked into the ground" are things that the horses are not, and shall not be described as such. Many of the horses there have been SAVED from auctions, and they could've faced their deaths; the BFF gave them a second chance, and they have turned out to be extremely wonderful horses. Spreading false propoganda that our horses are unfairly treated will not be tolerated by me, or the BFF. I have learned an immense amount of equestrian skills from the excellent instructor at the BFF, and I will never regret riding here. Come and join us at the Book Family Farm, the farm truly is a great barn and great for taking riding lessons!
BEST FARM / RIDING LESSONS FOR CHILDREN AROUND!. I think we ALL know who (and WHY you) wrote that bad review....you should be ashamed of yourself. That's not very nice. How would you feel if someone did that to you? The Book Family Farm has been a blessing for my daughter. She has been taking lessons there for about 2 years, now. My daughter always had self-esteem problems. She felt that she hadn't found her "knack" in any sport. She always had a love for horses. Someone told me about BFF. When we first started there, she was in private lessons, then semi-private lessons, now she is in a class. I have never had any problems like lack of supervision, safety, or fun for that matter! In fact, it's been the complete opposite! BFF has allowed my daughter to have a better self-immage, be more confident, and have lots of fun all the while! Book Farm has been a blessing for us! As far as the horses go, comon' ...get real...we know who you are & why you're writing this...so, just knock it off!
Book Family Farm is a great place!. Book Family Farm is a great farm. I bougt a horse from the intstuctor and I wouldnt have bought a horse from anyone better than the intrustor their. Book Family Farm is a great farm and great place to take your kid for lessons. The intrustor at Book Farm is a very nice person and is very sweet to the kids. The kids dont get to do whatever they want they have rules and limits. Who ever is bashing Book Needs to stop becasue Book Farm is a wonderful place.. The horses are in great health and condition and they are far from being pounded to the ground, and they are also never lame.
Jimmybob12, please read.
Excuse me, jimmybob12. We all know who you are.
I have been here for several years now and I love it. Our horses are treated very well and our main instructor is absolutely fabulous, and teaches a lot of things. These horses are not skinny, but are average weight. They are treated well and are loved by everyone. All you are doing is trashing our farm and you don't have a clue what you are talking about! These horses are not "pounded to the ground" or lame. NONE OF THEM ARE!!
If you continue to post slander against this farm, there is no doubt that somebody will report you. Stop trashing Book Farm because we all know that you know nothing about what we do here.
Avoid this farm.... Do not take your children there. It is a dangerous environment the main instructor has no authority, the kids do whatever they want. Some of the horses are in despicable conditions, being skinny and so tired/lame they have trouble walking and their horses are just pounded into the ground.
