Editorial Review for Bistro 7 – by Lauren McCutcheon
In Short
An oasis within whispering distance of some of Philly's most boisterous bars, this 45-seat bistro attracts couples out for a date night, groups going to the nearby Arden Theatre--and, yes, some partyers headed to those bars. Chef-owner Michael O'Halloran presides over the open kitchen overlooking the cozy dining room. The selection dips into the international, with complex French soup, buttery Italian gnocchi, Spanish-inspired seafood stew, Asian rice pudding--and all-American caramelized apple crisp.

Get there early and take a seat in the tiny bar area while waiting for your table. Sip a glass of wine and watch the chef and cooks prepare the various evening dishes in the small kitchen right in front of you. A gourmet delight !!

Went for dinner on Sat night and it was fabulous as usual. We were seated on time and the tables weren't too close. The ever changing menu selections as well as the chef's choice of seasonings guarantee variety and an interesting menu. Just make sure to save room for desert! The wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes. Definitely one of the top restaurants in Old City.
Pros: interesting menu, great staff
Cons: the front tables are chilly if it's cold outside
