Grace Tavern

One of a select few Philly bars that serves food till 2am! Get the Kelly's Burger — super-simple, just cheddar and bacon. The best.

Grace Tavern is a Rude, Unappreciative Joke of a Business. I went to Grace Tavern last night and am just DONE with this place. Simply put, GRACE TAVERN DOES NOT APPRECIATE THEIR CUSTOMERS and you're bothering these idiots the second you walk in the door. Last night, for example, my buddy and I sat down at a small table in the back. We were "greeted" by some stone-faced, gum-smacking waiter who didn't utter A WORD to us. He just slammed a couple of menus on the table and that was our welcome I guess. We then proceeded to tell him that we were just having drinks, which seemed to SHOCK THE HELL out of this guy. He then told us, and I quote, "I'm moving you guys over there [to a table in the corner]." Again, no friendliness, no "if you don't mind" or anything like that; it was basically just a "Move it!" So anyway, we went to the table, the waiter brought us our drinks and then maybe twenty minutes or so went by. As usual at this place, no one EVER asked how everything was, whether we needed another round, etc. And this is very much the norm at Grace Tavern: you RARELY get service unless you wave someone down. They take close to no initiative in that respect. So at that point, we basically already had enough and didn't even bother ordering another round. We just paid for our first drinks and left. Again, I will not be frequenting Grace Tavern again. These idiots just don't get it. When there are SO MANY other places in town that are friendly, give good service, etc., why ON EARTH would I take my hard-earned money to a place like Grace Tavern?

Big Mistake. If you like food that tastes bland, cold, and e-coli-ish then this place is for you.

If you like beer that was selected by someone who knows nothing about beer then this place is for you.

If you like creepy old bartenders with ponytails who touch you then this place is for you.

Just aweful. The food was terrible.

The service was terrible.

The atmosphere was terrible.

There was nothing good about this place. Don't bother. Try Resurrection up on 25th and Grays Ferry for a good meal.

Stop..Don't do it!. Well it took about 20 minutes for the bartender to come over and give me and my friend a drink and when he did he didn't even ask us if we wanted to see a menu. I am very disappointed in this place, we were looking for a new hangout. 2 THUMBS DOWN

The worst dining experience of my life. Of the hundrers of offerings during Beer Week we decided to try Grace Tavern w/out of town guests. What a mistake. Neither the bar or dining area were crowded but we were unable to order a beer. Not an unreasonable expectation in a bar during Beer Week. The waiter initially ignored us then verbally attacked us & demanded that we apologize because we had tried to get his attention. It was so absurd that initially we thought he was joking, then he continued his demeaning rant until we left to spend our money elsewhere. Our sandwiches were served on rolls that were charred & blackened from the broiler. Why?? Food should never leave the kitchen looking that way. Philadelphia has so many wonderful pubs there is no need to go to Grace Tavern.

You gotta have the beans!. I loved this place and will be going back! It's hard to get a seat either at a table or the bar because there simply aren't enough of them, but while you're waiting for something to open up you can enjoy some great beer. We had the fries, blackened green beans and jambalaya and they were all outstanding - even the fries! The blackened green beans are addictive and the jambalaya has great flavor and just the right amount of heat. Don't let any of the negative reviews stop you from trying this place. Don't get it wrong - it's a bar, bar and it's far from swanky and trendy, but if you go in with that in mind you will not be disappointed! Oh, and the staff was great - no one rude, nasty or blind to an empty pint glass! Enjoy!

skip this fake dive tavern. I heard about this new pub on Philly dot com and wanted to try it out. My wife and I could not have been more disapointed. It was a Saturday night around 7pm and the place was not too busy. I stood by the bar for a few minutes and caught the bartenders attention after a 5 minute wait. He said to hang on a minute. He then proceeded to hang out with aquintences for another 5 minutes, and when he came back he poured other peoples drinks and ignored us completely. We decided not to stay for the drink or dinner. I do not mind waiting for a table for dinner, but I do not care to wait 15 minutes for a beer at an un-crowded dive bar. Maybe the food is good; I will never find out. Much better choices in the area for food and drink in my opinion.

My second favorite bar. Really great bar, if it wasn't for my deep abiding love of Sidecar this'd be my top.

Really amazing selection of beer, but still some cheapees for the thrifty (2.25 PBR pounders).

A cool staff that warm up to regulars.

Very genuine decor. Great music. AMAZING food. Really a great place in the GHA.

I'd strongly suggest avoiding it on weekends however, it's usually a mad house. The middle of the week is a pretty good time to go.
