Avoid Terror Behind Walls. The haunted prison was not scary at all. The actors for the most part were behind bars or standing within plain sight and they are not allowed to touch you. Also it was so crowded that anything that might have been scary was not because you saw it happen to the people in front of you. The only reason I gave it 2 stars instead of zero is the 3-d part was kind of cool. For $30 I expect a really great show, this was very disappointing. I would not go back even for $10. I have been to the prison during the day and seeing the actual cells and reading the history is way more interesting and scary than the "haunted" prison at night go during the day if you want to see this place.
America's first "modern" prison, abandoned for almost 40 years, opens its doors to the public for tours and the annual "Terror Behind the Walls" haunted house..
In Short
Built in 1829 and abandoned since 1971, this towering Gothic structure was among the first American prisons to adopt the idea of solitary confinement and hard labor. The pains and horrors endured by inmates like Al Capone and Willie Sutton are relived by visitors to the 11-acre fortress through guided and self-guided tours that interpret the experience through thematic and geographic lenses.
