this place is horrible!!!!!.
One of the many rip-off restaurant in town. I cannot comprehend how so many people are so uneducated and clueless to give positive critiques to this restaurant.
First off, the place doesn't even have a kitchen. The "so-called' chef an his assistant cook for hundreds of people with a tiny bbq and a Pizza-hut style over.
Second, the average platter is $25-30 for a microscopic portion of meat, for the most part soaked in cheese sauces. What the chef calls 'fusion Mexican cuisine' is indeed pedestrian, inexpensive blending of random ingredients.
Third, most of the people in the restaurant are dunk....being a BYOB, while waiting for the food (usually 45 min to get a plate), people get drunk and then...everything tastes better.
I'm sorry this place is a shame. Much worst that I could possible imagine. Finally, it is offensive that the place doesn't take credit cards (Mr. chef are you so cheap not to pay the 2% commission on credit cards) and .. it even says in the menu that there an $18 minimum charge for sitting down. Are we joking here? This place would close down in any civilised country on earth....it survives here because likely most enthusiastic clients that eat here on a Saturday night have had macaroni cheese all week along waiting for the big night!!!!
A suggestion to whoever is interested in trying this. Get yourself a big Mac. No matter how ugly it tastes is will be better!!! Mr chef...stop ripping people off and take a cooking class.....and hire a chef for your cuisine.…
RUDE waitstaff!.
Over rated! Went there with my boyfriend and we brought a nice selection of beers to drink with our dinner. The waiter looked offended when he asked if he could bring us another beer from our six
pack! He down right insulted us. Like we were trashy for drinking beer. He sort of mocked my bf and said, "what, you want another BEER". Totally offended.
The food however was great. Ill never go again though. The waitstaff ruined the whole experience.…
Reservations about their lack of reservations!!.
We were given a $50 voucher by my boss and decided to go for my husband's birthday.
Having never been there before or knew where it was we decided to check it out before hand to see if we liked the menu, we got talking to a chap that works there who advised us we couldn't book it was a first come first serve deal.
We decided to go on the Saturday night, we had had a light lunch so we could chow down when we got there!
We arrived at 8.30pm and the place was packed to the rafters. We put our names down on the list and were told they would call us when a table is ready for us. We were also told our wait time would be 45 mins to an hour.
So we walked around thinking it would kill time but no matter where we went we saw people EATING! in restaurants windows, in the street, anywhere and everywhere. It was driving us insane! We became obsessed with clock watching we walked past Elvez salivating as we saw people sat at their tables eating yummy steak fajitas in large portions, we must have walked the same route what felt like a thousand times, we were exhausted!
After an hour and a half we decided to go back to Lolita’s and find out how much longer it was going to be, we stood waiting outside almost watching the people sat at their tables eating wishing it was us! My husband went in to try and ask someone how much longer we were going to have to wait when my phone rang and it was Lolita's telling us our table was ready. Wooohooo!
We got seated and it was freezing cold, I had to put my jacket on and looking around a few others had too. The door was open due to serving people outside.
It was VERY loud we couldn't really have a conversation plus it's a small room so you’re kind of on top of each other. It would have been cozy if it wasn't so cold!
Our waitress was average on the friendly scale but after seeing how busy it was she was probably frazzled and ready to go home!
We ordered the mixed chips with guacamole dip for apps which were above average.
For entrees I ordered the Puerco, Puerco which was a Pork chop with potatoes and spinach and my husband ordered the Vaca con budin de papas which was boneless shortrib with roasted Brussels and bacon and potatoes gratin.
My husband’s meal was mouthwatering, the shortrib was so tender and melted in the mouth and my Pork chop was a little tough but still good however, my potatoes were really tasty.
Would we go there again? for the food yeah probably but for the atmosphere and the waiting around? Nah!
I'm glad we didn't pay full price for waiting around, not being able to hear each other talk and me being so cold I looked like I was smuggling peanuts!!!
If they took reservations I'm sure the place would run a lot smoother and have a few less frustrated customers!
P.S For dessert we went to CapoGiro across the road for dessert and saw Pierre Robert which made my husbands night as he's a big fan! " Great day in the mornin!"…
We waited and waited..... We had a reservation one rainy Friday night. We came early, but ended up waiting 40 minutes! Apparently, reservations aren't really honored here, it's just a formality. We ended up heading over to El Vez and having drinks and appetizers, it was either that or stand in the rain!! I would have been more then happy to stay there. I must say when we were finally seated, the service was very nice and the food was exceptional, the braised short ribs were amazing! I don't know if the tequila saved the day, but after our rough start, the evening turned out to be quite nice.…
Food is good, but expensive... and we saw a giant roach. The food is very good. I thought the margarita mixers (sans tequlia) were too expensive at $12/pitcher. One pitcher was not enough for a group of 3. Also, I know any restaurant in the city probably has roaches, but I don't like to see them crawling on the wall next to my table!…
